Geoengineering, solar radiation management
Geoengineering is a way to reduce climate change in our atmosphere by reflecting sunlight back into space. Sea water would be sucked up and thrown at the clouds. If the salt was light enough it would stay in the clouds and make them clouds brighter and cooler so it would block heat. However this could result in less rain, and bring drought to Countries.
Spraying sulphric acid.
I think this would be the worst option because although there is benefits such as reflecting solar radiation, cooler summers, preventing glaciers from melting, cheap and even colourful sunsets. I think we shouldn’t risk it because the cons also include dangerous things such as changes in the ecosystem, never been tested so we do not know it if it would work. It can get too cold, ruin crops and even cause acid rain. I feel like some other options work provide the same or similar benefits while having less risks for damaging our ecosystem and us.
Tiggy hog project
In this lab we supported or refuted a hypothesis related to Tiggy Hogs or Wood bugs, this lab displayed Communication in the core competencies. the reason for this is because the group project involved a lot of communication. I was in a group with two other people and in order to make sure all our information was correct or to share information between the two of us we had to communicate with each other and help each other in reocrding data, starting procedures and cleaning up. From this lab I learned that Tiggy hogs are not hostile animals, or at least not to ants. I found this very interesting because it was fun watching how the two insects would interact with each other.
Playing God with planet earth
The video we made for the project cannot be uploaded in my website, but what we did was made a video on Methane, how it travels, what it causes and how to prevent it. The video was completely digital, the voice over was a text to speech method, sort of like Siri. I found that very interesting because ive never actually tried it. The video itself was also intriguing to me because my friend used her laptop to record herself drawing different slides and diagrams to further display what the voice was saying. the recording was then cut to the parts we wanted in and the voice played over the video. I think this method is very cool, and probably my favourite idea because i dont like having my face or voices in videos. However, this method is a little more risky, since its all digital based a lot could go wrong, technology is difficult for me to understand and i find it confusing to make a video using only digital media, but i think the video turned out great and I had a lot of fun with this project.
