About Me

My name is Arman, and I’m a grade 9 student at Heritage Woods Secondary School. Starting high school has been very fun and I’ve enjoyed many aspects of the new community, routine, and of the people around me. In my spare time, I enjoy playing basketball, listening to music, or talking to my friends. Playing basketball at the high school level is a goal of mine, so the grade 9 basketball team naturally peaked my interest. My favourite artist is Travis Scott, I love listening to his music as it makes me feel motivated to be a better person. I’m an extrovert, so I generally enjoy being with or talking to people, especially those who are from different cultures and diversities. I find it refreshing to learn about peoples stories and backgrounds as it gives me different perspectives on the world around me. I’m from Iran, and come from a long line of engineers and doctors (which i’m very proud of) so I’m naturally interested in that field of work. For the future, I would like to be a structural engineer, builder, and/or contractor. I’m looking forward to the new experiences and adventures grade 9 has to offer.

“I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan

I chose this quote because I’m not a very successful person, at first. I’m a very hard working person, so when I fail, I have the perseverance and determination to continue and work until I succeed. Hard work and determination is realistically all you need to accomplish your dreams and/or goals. I believe if I set my mind to it, and work as hard as I can, I can do anything.

I believe that in basketball, my best scoring attribute is shooting. I believe that if I honed that skill it would be very useful for me. This video was simple enough for me to learn and do in my front yard. This video not only helped my shooting overall, but it helped me with the little things such as: shooting off balance, hand eye coordination, foot coordination, finding my shooting stroke and generally boosted my ability to shoot under pressure. I found that doing these drills with a friend also helped exponentially, I believe that If I can perform these drills at game speed under pressure while being contested then I would grow and improve as a player.

Youtube is my favourite website because it has everything I look for. Youtube provides entertainment, research material and generally everything. If there was anything I didn’t know how to do, or wanted to improve on (that no one could teach me) I would just search it up on youtube. As you can see from the clip above, it works out pretty well. As I said before, youtube provides entertainment, you could search anything that would make you happy, or maybe something that would make you laugh. After all there are 1.3 billion videos to choose from.

The Vince Carter “Dunk of Death” was taken at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Where professional basketball player Vince Carter famously dunked over 7’2 Frederic Williams. Moments like these is what got me into basketball, I could only imagine the atmosphere of the ANZ Stadium that night in Sydney. The rush, the energy that was flowing through everyone that night was exhilarating. This picture means a lot to me because it was what first got me into basketball, seeing the energy brought into that play, and the passion carried into that dunk was what made me want to apart of the sport I love playing today.

I really like how you have integrated various media (video, images, links) into your post. You have done a very good job constructing your page and commenting about yourself and your interests whilst still being mindful of your online presence. Your sections all have details of relevance; you have embedded your video; created a clickable hyperlink to your favorite website and included your favorite quote, and why it’s meaningful to you. Good work!
