Grade 10 Core Competencies Self-Assessment

Core Competencies

Creative Thinking

I think creatively all the time, whether in school, at home, or doing extracurricular activities. In academic courses at school, when I face problems, I always think to the best of my ability before asking – this often resolves the problem and there’s no need to ask again. This also means that I’m very good at coming up with, developing and getting new ideas. When I need in-depth solutions, I always do research on the internet, from the most reliable sources that I can find, and analyze my findings before coming up with the solutions. My creative thinking skills let me have better grades academically and be better socially.

Communication

Communication is an important skill to have, and I have great communication skills. In classes, I communicate with other peers and partners in group projects, group presentations, and more – to acquire and present information. In sports, I communicate with my team members to co-operate and score goals. Communication is important in the outside world as well, whether asking for help, shopping in stores, or making new friends – it is important. I am glad that I have great communication skills.

Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility is a very important responsibility to have in the society, and I take it very seriously. A great example is COVID-19. I’ve worn a mask in all public facilities since January 2020, socially distanced with people, sanitized my hands every so often, and washed my hands thoroughly for 20 seconds with warm water and soup every time I arrive home – which was my part of preventing COVID-19. Another example is that I always sort garbage properly, never littered on the floor, and when I see someone else littered, I pick them up and throw them in the garbage. The social responsibility that I have are beneficial to the society.
