I’m Jane, I attend Heritage Woods Secondary and I am currently in ninth grade. I am a multisport athlete. I play soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, cross country running, skiing and track and field. I enjoy watching, playing and learning about all sports and I hope to one day make a career out of it. What I enjoy most about sports is that when you’re playing that sport you’re not worried about anything else, you’re completely focused on the game you love. One of my biggest dreams is to be able to play soccer in University. Not only do I enjoy sports, but I also enjoy travelling and spending time with my friends and family. I have been to Thailand, India, Iceland, America and around BC. I would love to soon travel around Europe and explore the culture. Some other things you should know about me are:

This is my favourite quote because it embodies my outlook on the world. So often, people stress about the past and regret decisions they’ve made. We waste too much time on the little things and lose time on what is happening now. I try my best to live in the moment and try not to worry about what I said or did yesterday or what I’m gonna do  tomorrow. I used to cringe about mistakes I’ve made years ago, but I realized that it was a waste of time and instead of that I should learn from those silly mistakes.

I chose the Serena Williams Nike commercial because I can relate to this video as a woman in sports. Just now, girls sports are starting to get recognition. I am very fortunate to be able to play sports and do just as much as a male athlete could. The main message that sticks out to me in this video is that you can do anything, if you want it bad enough. It doesn’t matter your age, race, gender or anything else, as long as you believe that you can and work hard enough for it. My favourite part of the video is at the end, where Serena says, “Show them what crazy can do.”  That message not only applies to sports, but to every dream, whether it be a new invention or even a simple idea. This video continues to inspire me everyday to never stop dreaming.

It took a while to decide my favourite website, but I decided to go with YouTube because there are so many tools and so much variety. Anyone can share a video that they have created and anyone in the world can watch it. It is such an easy way to share your ideas and thoughts to the rest of the world. There is such a wide variety of videos on YouTube including music, comedy, sports, vlogs, tutorials, educational videos and so much more. You can find anything on youtube in seconds. I can watch one video and end up being sucked into numerous more videos. I mostly use YouTube for entertainment purposes, such as music videos, vlogs and tutorials. YouTube is such a useful site making it my favourite website.

This image immediately spoke to me, giving me chills. I interpreted this photo as instead of fighting back with war, fight back with kindness. Flowers in the barrel of the gun act as a barrier to the bullets. Therefore kindness can almost over power hate. This is much an amazing message that we could all learn from.
