What do you do to help yourself when you are feeling a bit discouraged about your work / performance?
When I feel discouraged about my work performance in school, I take a step back and think. I think about what might be the reason I feel this way, and how I can help myself out of this not so good feeling. Usually, when I feel discouraged and am not achieving my academic goals it’s because I’m tired. Not physically, but mentally. I now realize I can’t achieve the things I desire in life when I forget about my first priority, which is myself. Therefore, I take a mental health day and remind myself that I can always ask for help when I need it and I’m not alone. This helps me a lot because I reach out and ask for help from my teachers when I need it. I’m no longer scared to ask a question because it’s “too dumb” and I “should’ve known already.” Because school is a place to learn and there is no wrong question. Not only does doing this bring me back on my feet, but it helps me grow as a person.
What is one of your learning goals? Why did you choose it and how are you going to work on it?
One of my learning goals is grasping all the knowledge I can from each and every one of my classes. I chose this goal for myself because knowledge has no price but yet is one of the most valuable things to me in my life. My knowledge of last year has helped me this year. As a result, it benefits me to achieve other things in the near future as well. I’m going to work on my learning goal by asking questions in class, paying attention, asking for help from my teachers, being responsible for finishing school work and practicing new concepts.
