Core Competency Reflection: Social Responsibility

Here is evidence that I can… work effectively in a group, support others in my classroom, advocate for others, take risks to suggest ideas, accommodate alternate perspectives, appreciate and respect diversity in my class and community, etc.

Throughout the process of coming up with a script, I have learned that working effectively in a group is essential to getting the work or in this case the script done. The effort had required a lot of teamwork which our group had demonstrated into the whole idea involved behind the making of the script. The script needed a lot of imagination and creativity since we had chosen to put on a modern theme instead of a Shakespearean one. That is why we worked efficiently by having everyone in the group contribute an idea or line to go into the script. I have played my part as a group member by developing ideas that would go into the making of the play and came up with some of the lines for the script. Another way I showed social responsibility is by supporting others in my classroom. I have supported the other group members and have shown encouragement for when we were writing the script. I have also took risks to suggest ideas for the making of the script. I have participated in the decisions and ideas that go into the setting, characters, and lines(including the parts with humour in it). Many of my ideas have been applied in the script after we all agreed in adding the ideas to the play. Our group and I have all accommodate alternate perspectives by listening to each other’s ideas and discussing them as a group. Then we had all talked about the alternate perspective and considered them as a group. The last thing my group and I have shown was we had appreciate and respected diversity. We have all considered each other’s ideas no matter how diverse they are and have appreciated everyone’s participation.

Ways I want to improve are…

I think the way I can improve my social responsibility is to contribute even more next time and share more of my ideas.
