Core Competencies: Communication

listened to my friends, and the project specifics they had to say. We’ve been able to make compromises and find solutions for some data. We were able to listen to each other’s thoughts and correctly respond if things were different or were not right. One of the Venn diagram’s most difficult things has been trying to pick topic. We’ve sent each other our thoughts forward. We worked each separately, and we came together and shared our thoughts to turn them into what we now have.

Critical Thinking

I had the chance to get concepts for the project. And I could look up the correct details I was looking for. As a collective, we were able to reflect on the ideas that we put together for the project so consensus Venn diagram. I was able to help my group if they had an issue on a topic and I could give them new suggestions for the questions. We used a collection of websites to use the research and divide it up to take notes from each site. We also used reasoning to see trustworthy sites around the web that use relevant and accurate information in our diagram.

How I can improve

We could have provided more detail. We use a lot of facts, but we could have added more. I think we had to bring more into our key ideas and have a little clearer details and some of our knowledge that we needed more detail, but I think it covered our subject quite well. Generally, I think we were doing a good job but with the diagram, we could have done a little better. We could have done better with the diagram style by adding colour to the diagram including inside pictures and more of their culture.

Animal Farm Video Reflection

Communication Core Competencies

I had chosen Communications as my core competency because I believe I have shown major points if the communication aspect of the competency. The main idea of this project was to make a campaign video showing and telling why you believe your character best suits being president of the farm. My group had all contributed making the scene and poster for the project. Doing that we had asked each other questions on how to make the video and poster better and what we should add. My group members and I had responded greatly and made a great effort into making this project. When I or my fellow peers had an idea, we had listened and added or encouraged each other to give ideas. My partners had many ideas and we all made sure to listen but when someone’s idea didn’t benefit us as much as others, we politely denied them.

I myself am very outgoing and able to be comfortable to typically talk in all situations especially in groups. My partner and I would get off task from time to time due to some of the ideas we would share but for the most part, we were able to share points about the topic, like when we suggested making the other farm animals seem idiotic. When we were to get off task someone in the group would make sure we still have time to do the work in class together and stay organized to do the work. My partners and I are all pretty outgoing and are able to go up stage and present. We all contributed to the presentation part quite evenly and were all able to do it without hesitation.

As I said before me and my peers had all quite evenly contribute towards the presentation part. Even in the preparation phase, we all were able to do equal work and pull our own weight some did more than others, but it was fine. Earlier I had also said that we were to get off task and one of us would typically notice and make sure we get on task and have enough time to finish. I was a leader time to time but so were my partners, we all had to be a leader at some points of time. We were all pretty negotiable with our ideas, we would all give good ideas and were able to interpret our ideas.

My group and I would all receive the ideas in a good manner and were able to give ideas freely, doing so would let us all give feedback and build off of those ideas. These presentations and assignments had helped me in many ways. For example, to the presentation part of the assignment helped me boost my confidence even more, and the work part had helped me be more open to ideas due to how nice and open my partners were.

 

 

 

Extra Curricular Assignment

My Extra-Curricular activity is Basketball. I chose basketball even tho I’m not the best at it I still love it. I love to play this sport because of the adrenaline you get and how the team your on is like another family which makes me feel even more special. I have been playing basketball since grade 4, but I haven’t really gotten into it and haven’t taken it seriously till grade 8. I would love to get better and improve my skills but that takes time. I myself am I very competitive person which makes me good at basketball I get up and pursue whatever obstacle is in my way. I didn’t care to try out for the grade 9 team until my friend had persuaded me to at least tryout. Once the tryouts came I wasn’t confident I would make it then a few days later the roster sheet was put on the wall and my name was on the list. I was very happy to be on the team and ever since I’ve been trying and working as hard as possible to get better. This year my other friends had wanted to make a Tri-City team just for fun and I had signed up with them. Ever since we had made that team we have been playing just to have fun and have one every fight. This sport is so great mentally and physically, it’ll help you learn better strategies better, and keep you in great shape. Every chance I get to practice I take to get better.
