Science 9

During this short project involving woods bugs, I learned a lot. whether that be the ups and the right ways to do things, the downs and wrong ways to do things, but most importantly I learned why. why what I chose to do would or wouldn’t work and I was able to deeply disect the roots of my project and change it for the better. and we were also able to answer our big question “do wood bugs have a sense of smell?” first, we conducted the first experiment in our d.i.y shoebox circuit that had three sectioned off parts to it that included a small opening for the bugs to get through. at one side of the box, we placed the 6 wood bugs and on the other side was the grand finale. the lettuce. we hoped that the wood bugs would hopefully smell the lettuce and manage to get through the small doors and find their way to it while relying on their sense of smell in under 8 mins. on the first try, we didn’t succeed. it took us until the 3rd try where is managed to work out and all the bugs got through. the most important thing I learned is that you definitely have to take multiple tries while conducting an experiment and thats what I would do differently next time.

ICE CAPP-zxhrr3

When I was assigned this project about the study of the effects of global warming of the ice caps, I didn’t expect to learn as much as I did. Before, I already knew quite a bit about global warming. The general “don’t drive around too much, recycle, etc.” but what I didn’t know was that the earth naturally releases gasses that warms the earth, but since humans are causing global warming to skyrocket which makes the earth produce more greenhouse gases faster.
