Core Competency: _______Communication_____________

The main thing that I tried to focus on when doing this science project was communication, because we were in groups of 4 and had to create only one assignment as a group. When were first set into groups I tried my best to engage with my group members by making small talk. We started our work and asked questions. I would be an active listener to my group members, and I encouraged myself to give them my full divided attention. We all got to suggest ideas and questions as a group, however we came up with a simple way to solve them. We would make them direct and if we really needed help, we would ask the teacher. While discussing and filling out information we all had differnent points on who should do what and what the presentation should look like. I liked a lot of the ideas my group presented, but sometimes I would have to disagree. I would be respectful and kind by just saying, we can think of possibly better ideas.

Another thing that I found myself good at was making a goal and achieving it one step at a time. I remembered the first goal we made as a group was laying out each and everybody’s role and responsibilities. I did my share of the work, and my main task was drawing diagrams and putting information into the sway project. When writing information, I would summarize key points, instead of writing a whole paragraph. I was still able to understand the information about the topic and present it clearly in an organized way, that my group members could understand in. I was also able to share the information within my group and take in their feedback, on what I can improve on. I also shard this project with some of my friends, who were doing the same project. My group members were very helpful when doing this project and we stayed on task and focused on completing this project to our best abilities.

Ways I want to improve are…

Some ways that I could improve on for next time would be to give, receive, and act on feedback because sometimes I get nervous when talking and I don’t really feel like giving feedback, because I don’t like to hurting people feelings, but next time I can act on it better and just inform others about my thoughts and ideas. I can also work on acting on my feedback, for the future, but thankfully I had nice group members who would help me act on my feedback. Another way that I can improve on for next time would be to tell myself something I learned every class, and how it connects to my future experiences and efforts. So in conclusion

Based on my thoughts I should take even more pride into my work and to not be afraid to give my opinion to others. I really like doing these projects because I find it is a good way to connect with others and to meet new people in your class. I am happy with the work I have done, and I hope can do even better for projects to come.
