About Me

My name is Wajdy Abbas, I’m in 9th grade, and I attend the school of Heritage Woods Secondary School. I come from a country in the Middle East, Syria. I grew up there for 8 years, and i moved to Canada at around 4.5 years ago. I couldn’t speak any proper English when I first came, and now here I am. I love to play soccer, workout, box, spend time with family and friends. I am a funny, caring, kind, social, thoughtful, and a resilient kid. I always thrive to be the best in anything I do, and will never give up. My dream is to either be a soccer player or a boxer, and if that doesn’t workout, then a police officer is what I want to be, helping out in the community.

My favorite video is from the movie Rocky llll, because it motivates me to keep moving forward, and to keep pushing myself against all odds. In this scene, Rocky was fighting a boxer named Ivan Drago, who killed Rocky’s best friends, Apollo Creed, in the ring. Everyone thought Rocky was going to get killed in the ring like Apollo Creed did, despite the fact that he had a whole country against him. Nothing stopped him from going the distance with the most dangerous man in the world, all the way to the last round, the 15th. despite all the pain Rocky took, he ended up winning the fight, and turned the whole country of Russia to go on his side by giving them a little speech.

I really like this photo because the way I look at it, I see it as also a motivation. It tells me to reach my highest limits, and to ignore all the people who try to put me down and fall off my goal, just like all those fans in the picture, they’re like the people. The players in this photo relate to the people i want to inspire and pass my legacy to. As they watch and learn from what I learned, they can use those skills to help them with their own lives. The soccer ball is like the goal i’m following, you have to work really hard, and train very hard to be able to reach it, no matter what it takes, or how long it takes, if you stay consistent, it will happen. Just like how the goalkeeper saved that shot and felt all the glory, for me, its like after reaching my goal, finally saying, wow, i deserve what I have now, i worked my butt off for it and this is what I get.

My favorite quote is by Jill Scott. Its what keeps me driving forward, and thriving to be the best I can be. It motivates me to not give up on anything in life, especially when something bad happens in my life that could throw me off the grind. For example, an injury, mentally and physically slumped/drained, close ones passing away, etc. It shows me that life isn’t easy, will always be stronger than you, and throw curve balls at you to try to make you stronger and better, even when it may seem like it’s punishing you. You just have to keep going no matter what’s in your way, until you get yourself out of whatever issue it put you in, then become stronger from those experiences.

http://ted.com

This is my favorite website because it has so many different stories, problems, and solutions of how people overcame them. I can relate or make a connection to a lot of the stories people say on it, and can be easily inspired by what they say. I’ve taken advice from this website that changed a lot of my everyday life, and to this day I still do. It helps a lot with almost any problem you try to overcome if you find the right video.

  1. You have done a good job constructing your page and have integrated media and text quite well. A mark was deducted because you didn’t include a link to your favorite website, and an explanation of why you chose it. (B)
