Reflection:

One of the main competencies we used during the process of this assignment was communication. I was with a group that I had full confidence in working with. Right off the bat, we were off to work on our scenes. We knew we had limited time to complete and write them. We communicated extremely well with each other during the planning of our skits. We even went to one of our houses to practice, as well as coming in before school to practice. We listened to each other when writing our script and came together to decide what to delete when it came to fitting in all of our parts. We recognized that there were different points-of-view when writing the script but we were able to talk it out by agreeing upon which were the most important parts of the scene and including them. We were able to present our play in an organized and clear way all the while presenting it in an entertaining way. We were able to collaboratively achieve the common goal of making sure our play was elaborate in the information we were giving and also making sure that our play flowed well. We had great connections with each other during the play and we were able to achieve a persona with the characters we were portraying. We each took on the responsibility of writing the parts of our character and also bringing props and costumes on the day of the play. Overall I think that our process and also our end result show how much work we put into this assignment and I think it shows during our performance.

Reflection:

I would say that the most important core competency that I used during the process of writing this short story would be creative thinking. At the start of the process of writing this story, I had no idea what story I was going to tell. I made a mind map to generate and display my ideas. I also asked for other peoples opinions on what I should write, I was then able to generate and build off of other peoples thoughts and ideas to achieve my topic for my story. I wrote the beginning of my story 3 times, in an effort to build my thought process through the story. I was able to make my ideas work, even though I had to revise a couple of times. When I got stuck and didn’t know what to write next, I would get up and walk around the room, this helped my mind breathe a little when it was stuck, and I was able to continue my writing with a fresh mind. One main problem I came across during the writing was the fact that I had accidentally written 2500 words when you were only supposed to write 1500. I had to cut a lot of my story down. This was an issue because I had to make sure my story still flowed well and wasn’t choppy. Overall I was very happy with the end result of my short story and I will use these tools again when writing to hopefully achieve the same results.
