The word “Coquitlam” means “People of The Water”, the Coquitlam is the Coast Salish Indigenous people living along the northwest pacific coast bc Canada, and from the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island south to a little bit off West of Washington.
Back in the day the Coquitlam called themselves “kwikwetlem” but then figured it was too hard to say. The landscape you see today was very different in the day olden days. the Dam they put up way back when saved wasting non-perishable food from the waters.
