Part 2: Reflection

Give 3 reasons why you like this job (be specific):

-With this job, there are many opportunities to travel around the world to be on sets of films. This interests me because I would want to to exposed to the environment of sets and learn how the things I watch everyday are created.

-While being with my dad the whole day, I realized how many people he interacts with on a daily bases. It was overwhelming at first, but then after talking to all these people who hold so much knowledge, I really enjoyed learning from these people. They all had powerful impactful voices and interested me in what they had to say.

-I like how the job can be very social and how it can be very quiet. Lots of the time my dad is out, collaborating with people and sharing his ideas. Lots of the time my dad is at home reading scripts or writing for his job. I like that because many jobs can be way too social or way too quiet without any time for the other. This job, you have both.

Give 3 reasons why you might not like this job (be specific):

-I don’t like how much time is required in this job. Your whole life has to be arranged around it. My dad works a lot and doesn’t have enough time to participate in many things he wants to because of it.

-I dislike how many people are unreliable in this business. Having to work with talent who shows no care towards the producers is hard. Lots of the time people won’t show up, won’t pay back, or will try to take your projects from you that you’ve worked so hard to get.

-Theres so many things you have to be managing all at once. With this job, you don’t get one project, then once you’re finished you move to the next. Everything comes all at once and you have to figure all of it out on your own. I think I would struggle staying organized with all of this.

Is this job for you? Why or why not?

This job is not for me. I value my sleep and my hobbies and this job would not allow me to maintain that. I want to have time to contribute my energy towards other things besides my job and I also want to be properly rested everyday.

How is technology or digital literacy used in this job?

Technology is consistently used to communicate with your colleagues, to read scripts digitally, to watch the film after creation, to film the production, to showcase the films, to book meetings, to advertise it, and to edit the films.

When in the process of someone else trying to buy your film, digital literacy is used to fact check they’re information before buying off. It’s used to evaluate information and communicate it.

Explain the value of your TOKW experience in relation to your ideas about your plans after high school.

This experience of the TOKW was valuable for me because it showed me a clear outline of the kind of job I want when I’m older. There are some things I want to equip from my dad’s job for my future job, but also some things that I do not want to have from his job. I enjoy the social aspects from my fathers job and I would push to have a job that can form people together that uses collaboration. I do not want a job where I must stay up for hours at a time waiting for a response from someone to make a deal. I wish to find a job that doesn’t need to feel like a job.
