My pie chart is calculating the amount of minutes I spend on these 4 apps a day. Snapchat was where most of my time went and facebook is my least used app. This graph style displays these amounts clearly.
This bar graph is used to express my friends birthday months. January was the most common throughout my friends which is shown clearly through this bar graph.
This line graph is used to show plants data. Viewing this graph, it’s shown that pot 1,3,4 have similar growth data. Pot 2 was extremely slower than the rest.
Topic #1 Digital Wellness – option A – Screen Time awareness
So my daily use of screens is quite low in comparison towards the average person in my age group. Outside of work/school, screens should be used for less than two hours which is what I do most days. For about an hour and 15 minutes of the school day my laptop is being used. My laptop also gets used outside of school to complete homework on a daily bases which sometimes adds another two hours onto my screen-time. I believe I have a good balance of equalizing my time towards my activities and screens. I have done a good job at accomplishing my goals to be on screens less. The ways i’ve managed to stay off of screens are, constantly surrounding myself with people who make it feel like I don’t have a phone, making a schedule for each day and forcing myself to stay on top of it (when I do this I feel like I won’t have time to go on phone), and lastly, creating healthy work habits that work best for me. I’ve found I work best with lots of breaks to keep me moving. So during those breaks, I’ll do an activity I enjoy.

My password hygiene is not the greatest and it is something I need to change to have more digital security. All my passwords are relatively the same for most platforms that require passwords making it quite easy for someone else to login to all of my accounts. I also do not change my passwords ever and they’ve been the same since I have made the accounts. I try my best most of the time to enforce two-factor identification when needed. I can enhance my password hygiene by, changing my password every month or so, having different passwords for different platforms, never leaking my passwords to anyone expect for parents or maybe a trusted adult, and using a password manager to manage all my passwords. Once these things are done, my digital security will be a lot safer and secure.

Topic #3 Digital Footprint & Identity – option A – Who You Are Online
I do not believe the way I present myself on social media interprets myself in life. I also do not believe anyone can present themselves online the same way they are seen not online. When anyone shows themselves online, you don’t get to see their happiness, their sadness, all of their feelings or the way they act. We only get to see little parts of what’s going on in their life but not who anyone really is. I try my best not to show so much of my life online because I don’t want people to assume things about me just by the way I am shown online. I intentionally want to be seen the best I can because the internet is open for everyone and people have lots to say on the internet. I think it’s difficult to match yourself online verses not online without sharing too much about yourself. But, i’d much rather be known for the way I am outside of social media.
Topic #4 Digital Communication – option A – Digital Respect
Digital communication can help hold onto relationships with loved ones. If you have friends and family who live at a distance, digital communication may be the only source of communication for you. Having digital communication, you have abilities to reach out to anyone whenever you need and you have the ability to stay in contactno matter how far of a distance you are between someone. Digital communication can also be perceived negatively. In person, you can read peoples body language or hear their tone of voice at which they say things. Texting, you can’t always tell the meaning behind messages and often leads to someone taking a message differently than it was meant to. Because of this, online interactions can change into digital bullying fast. I foster positive online connections by keeping my messages short and simple. If I need to share something with lots of depth, I prefer calling or voice messages to make it clearer for anyone to understand my feelings.

Part 2: Reflection
Give 3 reasons why you like this job (be specific):
-With this job, there are many opportunities to travel around the world to be on sets of films. This interests me because I would want to to exposed to the environment of sets and learn how the things I watch everyday are created.
-While being with my dad the whole day, I realized how many people he interacts with on a daily bases. It was overwhelming at first, but then after talking to all these people who hold so much knowledge, I really enjoyed learning from these people. They all had powerful impactful voices and interested me in what they had to say.
-I like how the job can be very social and how it can be very quiet. Lots of the time my dad is out, collaborating with people and sharing his ideas. Lots of the time my dad is at home reading scripts or writing for his job. I like that because many jobs can be way too social or way too quiet without any time for the other. This job, you have both.
Give 3 reasons why you might not like this job (be specific):
-I don’t like how much time is required in this job. Your whole life has to be arranged around it. My dad works a lot and doesn’t have enough time to participate in many things he wants to because of it.
-I dislike how many people are unreliable in this business. Having to work with talent who shows no care towards the producers is hard. Lots of the time people won’t show up, won’t pay back, or will try to take your projects from you that you’ve worked so hard to get.
-Theres so many things you have to be managing all at once. With this job, you don’t get one project, then once you’re finished you move to the next. Everything comes all at once and you have to figure all of it out on your own. I think I would struggle staying organized with all of this.
Is this job for you? Why or why not?
This job is not for me. I value my sleep and my hobbies and this job would not allow me to maintain that. I want to have time to contribute my energy towards other things besides my job and I also want to be properly rested everyday.
How is technology or digital literacy used in this job?
Technology is consistently used to communicate with your colleagues, to read scripts digitally, to watch the film after creation, to film the production, to showcase the films, to book meetings, to advertise it, and to edit the films.
When in the process of someone else trying to buy your film, digital literacy is used to fact check they’re information before buying off. It’s used to evaluate information and communicate it.
Explain the value of your TOKW experience in relation to your ideas about your plans after high school.
This experience of the TOKW was valuable for me because it showed me a clear outline of the kind of job I want when I’m older. There are some things I want to equip from my dad’s job for my future job, but also some things that I do not want to have from his job. I enjoy the social aspects from my fathers job and I would push to have a job that can form people together that uses collaboration. I do not want a job where I must stay up for hours at a time waiting for a response from someone to make a deal. I wish to find a job that doesn’t need to feel like a job.
I will be using MLA format for citations in this assignment
Part 1
What is orange shirt day and why is it important? Orange shirt day is a Canadian holiday dedicated to acknowledging the impacts of the Indian Residential Schools. This day is important because we are remembering the indigenous peoples that have lost their lives. By acknowledging the peoples that have lost their lives, we are also showing more indigenous representation for the future. This day will help advocate the voices of these indigenous peoples that have not felt like they have had a voice before.
Summarize in your own words Canada’s progress in addressing the 94 calls to action
Canada created 94 calls to action. Canada made it to acknowledge the suffering and history that the indigenous peoples in residential schools went through and to create a system. A system to ensure we educate the future going forward so this abusive past will never get repeated.
The effect of the reconciliation advocacy looks quite good if we look at the statistics. The red dots, meaning reconciliation are starting to include more. Meaning, reconciliation is being used with more effort.
With the 94 calls to action, only 13 have been completed. Those 13 have been completed over the last 7 years. 63 have been proposed, but still not completed. The government has been going at a significantly slow pace with these actions.
I believe Canada is making progress in addressing the 94 calls to action, but I also believe the pace at which we are going at is poor. We are going in the right direction, but it is still not enough to remark what these people have been through.
Why and when was a National truth and reconciliation day established?
National Truth and Reconciliation day was established on March 9, 2023. This day was made not as a day off, but as a day to honour the Indigenous peoples that went to residential schools. To really educate ourselves on the tragic history of the residential schools. To learn more and really engage with this topic. To remember the sorrows of what these children felt.
What is call to action #63iii? How does this assignment help you build “your capability for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.”
Call to action #63iii is about educating students on what the indigenous peoples have gone through and really feeling empathy towards them.
This assignment has helped me build more intercultural understanding on this topic because I have researched it a lot more and educated myself about the culture that was stripped away from the indigenous peoples. Since doing more research, I have developed more empathy towards the Indigenous peoples that were in residential schools because I got to learn more about what happened in these residential schools and how the Indigenous peoples were affected by them. I also learned that they were not treated with mutual respect compared to non indigenous peoples and many did not respect them or their culture.
What is one thing you learned about the Kwikwetlem Nation and our shared land?
I learned about the origin of Coquitlam. How Coquitlam originally received the name Kwikwetlem from the Indigenous peoples. The word Kwikwetlem was challenging for the settlers to say so they changed it to Coquitlam. I learned how settlers renamed their land. I learned how their land shifted and adapted to what it is today.
After reading that article and listening, I have learned that there is only under 100 speakers that still speak this interesting language because of residential schools stripping their language away from them. Luckily, the Indigenous peoples from the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm nation are trying to spread their language so that we can continue the lasting of their language into the future.
