the Cremation of Sam Mcgee

In this project I used my critical thinking skills to develop a script. At first we ran into problems with the costumes and our filming but we problem solved to make sure we finished on time. Our  group used communication during this project, because we made a group chat to divide the work. We also worked collaboratively on this project to complete all the criteria. Some ways we can improve are to edit and take more time while filming so we can come up with a better polished project. Another way we were successful was using our personal awareness and responsibility. I relied on my group members to do their share of the work and we all ended up doing our jobs. I really enjoyed filming this project and exploring how to use different editing tools to make our project stand out.

Reflection:

Here is evidence that I can…strategize, analyze, reason, estimate, model, be creative, visualize, reflect and revise, connect, use mistakes to advance learning, use technology or other tools, extend, reason logically, adapt my ideas, etc.

I used my critical thinking skills to do this project by using trial and error with my recording segments. I used my mistakes to advance my learning. When I messed up speaking, I recorded over the part that I messed up and edited it so it my story flowed properly. I used technology to advance my knowledge by using a new website. For this project I also used my creative thinking skills to improve my project. I added extra effects and used a picture for cover art for my podcast.

Ways I can improve are…

Last time I did a project like this one of my goals was to use a new program that was easier and better than Gargeband. This time my project went much more smoothly and I did not run into any problems. One way I can improve is to take more time to do this project.

Here is evidence that I can… advocate for myself, persist, be positive and curious, reflect, take initiative, positively influence others, show integrity, implement and plan, manage my time etc.

Core Competency: Personal Awareness and Responsibility

In this assignment, I learned about ways we can reduces waste in our everyday lives. I used personal responsibility when I educated myself and others about about how we can recycle/use alternatives. During this assignment, I had to manage my time/ take initiative because both of my group members were away while we were working on this assignment.  In the end we all positively influenced our classmates by learning about ways to recycle. Some ways to improve are… Something we could have improved on was dividing the work up better, so we could have had more information. Next time we will be sure to have a plan for how we want the assignment to turn out, and divide the work accordingly.

Core Competency: Critical Thinking Here is evidence that I can… strategize, analyze, reason, estimate, model, be creative, visualize, reflect and revise, connect, use mistakes to advance learning, use technology or other tools, extend, reason logically, adapt my ideas, etc.

I used my critical thinking skills when I wrote my reflection, by analyzing and demonstrating my knowledge of the three revolutions we were learning about.  I supported my ideas about how they related, with examples from the text, and multiple other sources/online tools. In this assignment I extended my knowledge by comparing and contrasting the English, French, and American revolutions. Something that I learned from this assignment was how to reason logically and adapt my ideas,  when it came to how I thought the revolutions were similar.

Ways I want to improve… Some things that I could have done better for this assignment, was organize/structure my work better. Next time I reflect on a subject that I learned about, I will also take more time to reflect and revise my work.

Here is evidence that I can… generate new ideas, build upon my ideas, build upon or combine ideas of others, develop ideas through experimentation or writing, use setbacks to advance my thinking, take significant risks with my thinking.

In this assignment I used my creative thinking skills, by demonstrating my knowledge of the Industrial revolution in a new/creative way with pictures. I generated new ideas by finding different ways to represent my points without using many words. During this assignment I had a few setbacks, that later advanced my thinking to form my final product. One of my setbacks was that I was unsure of how I was going to show/create my project. At first I was going to use a poster, but I realized that I could not get everything to fit how I wanted, nor was it an ideal strategy to finish the project efficiently. In the end I decided the infographic would work better digitally.

Ways I want to improve are… choosing an efficient way of showing my work, and sticking to a plan to get it done.

Core Competency: Communication

In the Tiggy hog science experiment, I used my communication skills to make changes to the experiment/group work when I needed to. At first, we all had different ideas of how to do the experiment. I used my communication to compromise and figure out who was going to take on the final jobs nearing the end of the project.

Ways I want to improve are…

Something I would like to improve for my upcoming group projects, is my communication skills. Next time I will make sure my group and I know what each person is doing so that the amount of work is equal. We will be very clear with what we are doing in the experiment so that our results are accurate.
