In this assignment, my group and I had to choose and perform certain propaganda techniques to persuade others to vote for our candidate in the Animal Farm election, we had to do this in a campaign ad. format. We had to think critically to choose certain techniques that we believed would best persuade the voters and I am happy with the techniques that we ended up using. We first had to strategize to choose techniques and a video format, which we eventually chose to be my group sitting around a table, resembling normal, voting civilians. We then had to perform our plan in the video itself. The propaganda techniques which we decided to use were selection, which means to only present the positive information about your candidate or the thing that you are trying to represent. We also used the plain folks technique to promote our candidate. This helps because the people in this advertisement seem like normal voters, (people can relate). Finally, we decided to use the technique of other voters’ influence, We asked others around the school who they are voting for and they obviously said that they were voting for our candidate. This helps to influence voters because they know that if they vote with our candidate, they won’t be alone.  

What I Would Do Better Next Time: 

If I could do this assignment again, we could just make it even better by adding even more propaganda techniques, we used three techniques visibly along with others used in small portions. To make this better, we could focus more on adding one more technique to the video. We could also have more emotion and emphasis in our speech to make for a more persuasive and attractive advertisement.
