Hello world! My name is Chad Baker, I am 14 years old and I originally come from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. My main interest is sports, more specifically soccer. I currently play for a soccer team called Mountain United F.C in the British-Columbia Soccer Premier League, or BCSPL. My other main interest outside of sports is video games. I like games such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Rocket League and FIFA. My overall goal for the future is to become a professional soccer player or to at least obtain a scholarship through soccer. If soccer doesn’t end up working out for me I would like to eventually work along side my Dad in his business. My shorter term goals would definitely be to work my hardest in high school and obtain my highest possible marks. I would also like to make new friends and form new social groups.

A quote that really means something to me is, “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm”. -Winston Churchill. This quote means a lot to me, first of all because it is completely true in my opinion and especially in sports, is essential to understand. In a soccer match, and in any everything else in life, it is extremely likely that you will make many mistakes. If you let those mistakes get you down and you get upset over them, that is how you become mentally defeated. In my opinion, it is less about what mistakes you make, but more about how you react afterwards.

This Youtube clip is meaningful for me because it talks about perseverance and getting back up and continuing after making mistakes or after being defeated. I really like this clip for the same reason that I really like the quote that I chose, it resinates with me. In soccer, school and anything else in life you will make lots of mistakes and will feel defeated many times. The most important thing is how you react after these moments and that is what Rocky Balboa emphasizes in this clip. He also stresses to his son that instead of making excuses about why he can’t be successful, just go out and create your own legacy.

My favourite website is Youtube. I really like this website because it is what I use on a lot of my free time, I usually watch it while eating or when I’m just trying to decompress. I think this website is really cool because anyone, anywhere in the world can film a video and put it on this website for people to watch and enjoy. This website is also a really good space for people to communicate as people may choose comment on videos and engage in conversation through the comment section.

Pictures like this affect me a lot, as they really warm my heart. I have always loved dogs and seeing pictures of cute ones really makes me feel happy, especially pugs. I have had pets since I was about 2 years old so pictures like this resinate with me in a big way. Pictures of dogs do not impact me in a deep way as some other pictures would but they still affect me in a way that I would consider impactful.
