Second Social Studies Project – Block 4

Critical Thinking

Here is evidence that I can… generate new ideas, build upon my ideas, build upon or combine ideas of others, develop ideas through experimentation or writing, use setbacks to advance my thinking, take significant risks with my thinking etc.

I was able to show Critical Thinking by making my project. while making my traveller project, I decided to pick Marco Polo, as I already knew a little bit about him prior to the project. I decided that making the assignment into a map would be much better than the standard poster layout. I aimed to further make my project look more interesting by adding waypoints, paths he took. I made text boxes which reflected his journey, whilst writing them right beside the path in which he took, as if he was writing a diary on the map itself, writing about key events which had happened. I also had to make sure my project looked clear and would be easy to read. So, I made sure that I used limited writing on the map itself, only putting down the major nations of that time and putting several landmarks and drawings to further illustrate the map.

Ways I want to improve are…

I believe I could have made the poster better If I had better time management, If I had put much more time into the assignment, I would have been able to colour it much better. Instead, I procrastinated and rushed the assignment, making me unable to colour it or add any extra details to finish it.
