Assignment 7 – Core Competency Portfolio
Assignment 6 – Excel Graphing
This pie chart shows the total amount of money that I spend on different things in a month. Those different things include clothes, food, gifts, personal items, and any other thing that I may spend my money on in a month. The pie chart is above.
The bar graph above was made from questioning 10 people on what their favourite month of the year is. It includes all 12 months of the year, even the ones that people didn’t chose as their favourite. The summer months seem to be the most popular out of all the months.
The line graph above is a demonstration of how much a tomato plant grows based on how many mL of water is used in the soil used to pot the tomato plant. I used this website to make this: https://gizmos.explorelearning.com/find-gizmos/launch-gizmo?resourceId=615. I used all of the base items on this website, and the only thing I changed was the amount of water.

2 things you like about the job: 1. Always learning new things. 2. Get to meet with lots of different investment professionals, many of whom are extremely insightful.
2 things you dislike about the job: 1. Client pressure when performance is not good. 2. Feeling stretched too thinly (not enough hours in the day to get all the wanted aspects done.
How this job could be changed in the next 5-10 years: Artificial intelligence could potentially revolutionize the way investment information is processed. This could make the number of people needed on an investment team, such as the one that is being managed, to be a lot less. AI will have impacts on the investment world that are exceedingly difficult to foresee at this point.
Reflection:
- What was your favorite part of the day? Was there anything that you found interesting or surprising?
My favorite part of the day was walking in and meeting everyone at the job. Everyone was so friendly, and the workspace was really cool. Something I found surprising was that the office building and section that I was in was very modern.
- Give 2 reasons why you like this job (be specific):
One reason I like this job is that it seems very social. Everyone seems so close and it is like they are all one big family. Another reason I like this job is that you get to work with money. I, like most people, really like money and investing that money in strategy to make more of it seems like such a fun and cool thing to do.
- Give 2 reasons why you might not like this job (be specific):
I might not like this job because you have to sit around all day, and I would not like that because sitting down for too long makes me feel lazy and I do not like that feeling. Another reason I might not like this job is the stress of it. If you have this job, people look up to you, and for me that would be incredibly stressful.
- Is this job for you? Why or why not?
I think it could be because it fits into what I think would be fun for a job, but at the same time I don’t think I would pursue this job as of right now because obviously I’m in ninth grade, but also I don’t think it would be for me because you have to be on a laptop all day every day.
- How is technology and digital literacy used in this job?
Technology is used in this job because everything you do is on technology, calling people, reading emails, trading stocks, everything you can do with this job, it is online. Digital literacy is used in this job because when you read things online about what to trade, you must check if this is a real and trustworthy site. You cannot just blindly put money into anything without research.
- Explain the value of your TOKW experience in relation to your ideas about your plans after high school
The value of TOKW in relation to my ideas about my plans after highschool is very important. In my opinion, you should not do something people tell you to do for your job, I think that you should get a job that you know that you will like. Therefore, it’s important that you go around exploring different types of jobs for your future, because you never know what you’ll like until you try it. This is a good start or even steppingstone to explore what I’d like for my future.
Assignment 2 – Digital Referencing and Citations
I will be using APA format for citations in this assignment.

These calls aim to address the harm caused by residential schools and promote reconciliation. This site updates the status of each call, categorizing them as Not Started, In Progress, or Complete. It also features survivor stories, status reports, and video documentaries to raise awareness and show how governments and communities are working toward healing and justice for Indigenous peoples.

National Truth and Reconciliation Day was established in 2021 to honor residential school survivors and reflect on their legacy. The date, September 30, was chosen to coincide with Orange Shirt Day, which raises awareness about the trauma of residential schools. The day was created in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 2015 report, which called for a day of reflection to promote healing and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.

Call to action 63 iii is Building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect. This assignment builds intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect by encouraging me to learn about the history and impacts of residential schools on Indigenous communities. It helps me understand their experiences, fostering emotional empathy for the trauma caused. By recognizing the significance of National Truth and Reconciliation Day, I develop respect for Indigenous cultures and contribute to the process of reconciliation. This learning promotes a deeper connection to the importance of healing and mutual understanding between cultures.

The Kwikwetlem Nation name comes from the Halq’eméylem word for “people of the muddy water,” referring to the Coquitlam River. Their traditional territory includes areas around Coquitlam, Coquitlam Lake, and the river, where they historically relied on fishing, especially salmon. In the past, the Kwikwetlem thrived through fishing, hunting, and gathering. Today, they focus on cultural revitalization, land protection, and economic development. Looking ahead, they aim to strengthen their community, protect their environment, and advance reconciliation while preserving their culture for future generations.

The Kwikwetlem Nation is working to teach and preserve hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ for future generations, ensuring it remains a vital part of their culture and identity.
My First Blog Post
What are 2 essential rights you have as an active digital citizen?
One right that I have as an active digital citizen is that I have the right to access and use digital content. A second right that I have as a digital citizen is that I have a right to create and share digital media.
What are 2 responsibilities you have in contributing to an inclusive and respectful culture online?
One responsibility I have in contributing to an inclusive and respectful culture online is to have diverse representation by ensuring that my content reflects the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of my audience and community. Another responsibility I have is to be kind to others no matter the circumstances.
Explain in detail 2 ways that you plan to use your personal device responsibly in school.
One way that I plan to use my personal device responsibly in school is that I will not be using it in class. Instead of not paying attention and being on my phone, I will pay attention to what the teacher is saying and will be respectful in that way. The second way that I’ll use my personal device responsibly in school is that I will not be spreading any false information online about the school or anyone in it. Spreading rumors could lead to very bad things, and it is not respectful to anyone or anything to do that.
Explain in detail 2 examples of inappropriate use of personal devices in school.
One example is using your phone while the teacher is talking. That is inappropriate because it can distract your peers, you, your teacher, basically anyone. The noise on your phone, the colours, the brightness, any of that could distract anyone, and that’s not good. Another way of using personal devices in school that is inappropriate is playing games instead of doing your work on your laptop. This is for the same reason, it could distract others in many ways.
