Part 1:

Orange shirt day is important because we need to recognize the mistakes we made when we forced many First Nation children to go to residential schools and abandon their homes and culture.

Part 2:

Canada has made decent progress to complete all the calls to action but sadly I do not think we have done enough. We still have many more calls to action to complete and even some we have not started or tried to start at all. We need to step up and give our full effort to complete all the calls to action this is what all first nation peoples deserve for what they have gone through.

Part 3:

National day for Truth and Reconciliation

National truth and Reconciliation day was established to commemorate the history and legacy of residential schools and the damage they did to First Nation communities, children and their unique culture and practices. On March 9th 2023 British Columbia made it a statuary holiday.

Part 5:

I learned that the word Kwikwetlem means people of the water and that the Kwikwetlem river used to be full of salmon that the first nation harvested because they lived at the side of the river. The Kwikwetlem used to fish efficiently and now the settlers have hunted down the fish and dammed them until there were many lost. The Kwikwetlem now live in the same area they did before but with less land, salmon and freedom but people are working hard to reestablish the Kwikwetlem nation.

Part 6:

I learned the translation for Kwikwetlem and how to pronounce it. I also learned that səmiq̓ʷəʔelə means riverside.
