He helps Canadians manage their money properly by saving and investing so they can have a healthy financial future.
- What are the duties and/or tasks you perform at your job?
He meets with his clients to manage their finances and change their financial plan. He also meets with lawyers, accountants and others who will introduce him to new clients for him to manage. Finally, he also continues his education throughout his career, gaining more knowledge about how to help his clients and learning more about finances.
- What qualifications do you need for this job in the following areas:
- Training?
General training based around managing clients on being a financial planner this continues through career (like I said in #3).
- Education?
Certified financial planner designation (CFP)
- Experience?
Experience with investment/banking industry.
- Skills and attributes (personal qualities)?
Good people skills, detail oriented,
- What are some things you like about this job?
He makes his own time and schedule and has independence. He also gets to connect with people when he helps them with their finances, and some become friends.
- What are some things you dislike about this job?
Lots of work and long hours, dealing with difficult personalities (clients or co-workers). He is independent so can’t pass off work to others.
- How do you think this job might change in the next 5-10 years (technology, etc.)?
People may be more open to getting help from A.I in the future so they might not rely on financial planners. Also there will be new issues due to what people from younger generations expect which could cause problems.

- Independent so you don’t really have to answer anyone or get bossed around like in other jobs.
- Good salary and lots of good benefits (health insurance etc.)
- You do not have to rely on others to help you (unreliable people)

- A very social job where you must manage people and their personalities.
- You must take in a lot of work to earn good money (high work volume).
- Stressful job with lots of deadlines and not much time off.

I think this job would be good for me because I work very well on my own and I can get work done very fast and efficiently.
- How is technology and digital literacy used in this job?
Most of the work is done online in this job there is a lot of e-mailing filling out forms and even using online chat or video services like teams.
- Explain the value of your TOKW experience in relation to your ideas about your plans after high school.
I think this has been a valuable experience that has taught me how financial planning works, what you must do to get this job and the pros/cons of it. It has shown me a potential job I could work towards after high school and since I like the idea of independence and online work maybe I will have this job someday.
