Rwandan Genocide Presentation Reflection
This presentation has opened my eyes as to how fortunate I am to live in a country where I am able to go to school on a daily basis with a wealth of information at my disposal. Elizabeth talked about how in order to survive she had to have a fake ID. while in Canada the only reason to have a fake ID would be to buy things when you are under age. Elizabeth focused on where Rwanda is now and that showed me how even after something terrible could happen you can recover and forgive while looking to the future for a solution. I think that the entire world could take a leaf out of Rwanda’s book as they truly understand forgiveness and respect.
Hotel Rwanda reflection
This movie was based off of a true story and that is the most terrifying thing about it. The movie was based off of the Rwandan genocide which ended in 1994. While I was watching it I felt physically ill looking at all the mangled bodies and the violence that had taken over these people. I couldn’t and still can’t believe that it is something that happened and is still happening today. The movie followed a man named Paul and his family. This made it so that what you were seeing hit you in the heart as you can see the terror that people felt instead of just seeing the body count on the news. Overall it was an educational movie which showed hoe the UN helped and didn’t help along with how much fear was in every word people spoke.
