Reflection:

Three reasons why I want this job:

  1. I love how this job creativity and the use of artistic skills. I don’t like critical thinking as much as I like being creative.
  2. I love flowers because of their sweet fragrance and their vibrant colours. Seeing their beautiful coloured petals brings me joy in a way.
  3. Seeing people happy

Three reasons why I don’t want this job:

  1. I love art but I prefer to draw than to create with something like flowers. I just like making things seem realistic, not using something that’s real.
  2. I don’t like the idea of carrying heavy objects like flower pots or buckets filled with flowers. That kind of work just doesn’t suit me and isn’t so good for anyone’s health.
  3. I would like to be able to take some short vacation when I have a cold or not well in general. Working even when you’re sick doesn’t sound so enjoyable to me.

Is this job for you? Why or why not?

I don’t think this job suits me as it’s not really something I believe I would enjoy. As much as I love flowers and being creative, I’d prefer designing clothes and other kinds of products. I love to draw art and doing something you love will make you more successful than doing something you don’t like or love.

Explain the TYKTWD experience in relation to your ideas about post secondary

The Take Your Kid to Work Day was an interesting and fun way to learn as well as experience your parents’ careers. I learned plenty of information about flowers and working with them. This day also can help me decide what careers I like or don’t like doing. I can also direct the courses to the career path I will choose later on. These experiences can help me choose what field I want to study in post secondary in the future.
