Social Studies Projects
This project is about how outsiders perceive Canadians vs reality, and the stereotypes surrounding the topic. I collaborated with my partner Emily, and we worked to research playful stereotypes, then said whether or not they are true or false with supporting details. We managed our time wisely, and we divided the work 50/50, which made for a very easy assignment. Our creative thinking skills were used to convey an enjoyable presentation, but still provide insight on Canada. I also used my social responsibility skills to organize a plan and stay on-task during all of the provided class work blocks. If I were to do this project again, I would rehearse it more thoroughly so the presentation flowed smoother. I would even attempt to memorize the majority of it, so I can make full eye contact with the audience. Overall, I was pleased with the outcome and I am aware of what I can do differently for the future.
This project is about an underdeveloped country vs a developed country. I used my critical thinking and decision making skills to choose two places that were logical to use in the project. This was exemplified when I ended up with Yemen, one of the most underdeveloped countries on a global scale, and the United Kingdom, a developed country in severe debt. The work was divided between my group members and I, which helped us to manage our time wisely. We ended up with a lot of research and information regarding our topics, which helped us to construct effective comparisons. Through communicating with each other, we were able to combine our information and get to know everyones parts as much as our own. Something I would change would be the length of our presentation, as we went a few minutes over, as well as our summary sheet. We struggled with briefing our research findings, as we were exposed to a vast amount of information. We ended up with an A, which felt very rewarding.
