Science Projects and Reflections
This is a photo of my notes from my favourite part of the chemistry unit, bohr and lewis diagrams. I found the chemistry unit to be challenging, but I was good at self-regulating myself to focus and study hard. I came to flex blocks, did a quiz re-write and would stay in at lunch until I was able to understand the concepts. Bohr and Lewis diagrams were a high light of the unit, because I understood them right away and it was good for me to see a visual of transferring electrons. I used my critical thinking skills to work through problems and find solutions, which ultimately prepared me for the unit test. If I were to do one thing differently, I would have taken notes during the labs to further my understanding of chemical reactions.
This is a photo of a lab I completed, closer to the end of the unit. I tested how temperature, surface area and concentration affect the speed at which a chemical reaction takes place. I enjoyed this lab as I got to work in a group of three, where we supported each other to write a question, hypothesis, an equipment list, a procedure, data analysis and a conclusion. We each contributed our thoughts and ideas, which worked effectively to expand our knowledge on the lab. Everyone did an equal amount of work, and we could rely on each other to get our parts of the assignment completed. I enjoyed this lab as it was a good balance of fun and informative. This helped me to prepare leading up to the unit test, and I was able to further understand what a manipulated and a response variable are.
