Reflection:
In this assignment we had to have a discussion on the new Hydro Site C Dam, located on the Peace River. My group; Aly D and Adam D had to discuss if the dam should be continued to be built or not before the official announcement and predict if it will be a go or not. We learned that a lot of first nations peoples would not want it to be continued, as it is on their land and may affect the wilderness around it, but due to restrictions on the amount of info at the time about the decision of the dam we had to do our best to dig deep into it and find out if it really was worth it or not. We concluded after research upon research that personally, it would be okay for the dam to be built. It may seem like we won’t need it right now but in the future due to the population increase we will need more energy by the time we are adults and the city will continue to grow. So by then this dam will probably really help us. It’s even better due to it pretty eco-friendly as it is only using water to push turbines that transfer the energy to transformers and so on… We did not have to give a presentation to our class, but rather just our guess on if it will be continued to be built on it. We said yes, and just on December 11th, 2017, it was announced that they would continue to build the Site C dam, making it the biggest dam here since 1984.
