Digital Literacy 10

Digital Footprint
Almost everyone in our modern world that has access to an electronic device has an online identity. But how can we make sure that we are giving a good impression on the internet and why is it important? In this article I’m going to share some of my personal opinions on this subject and hopefully after a bit of thinking and reflecting I can find the best way to present myself offline as well as online!
So why do we have to have a good picture of ourselves online? I think the main reason is for future jobs and schools. If you have a bunch of pictures on your profile of you partying, drinking, or other bad stuff Then you will likely have less of a chance of getting into your dream school or getting the job that you really need. In a world where we post a lot of our lives a lot of people will look through your social medias to see if your responsible enough to be hired. This also applies to pictures that could’ve been taken years ago so it is a good idea to learn and think about your digital foot print from a young age to avoid ruining your future!
Now that we have discussed why it’s important to present yourself well online next I think we should talk about different ways you can use your online presents to project a good image of yourself! One way is to post your talents so that in the future people can see your skills and have more reason to hire or accept you! I personally have a public Instagram account for my art!
Another way to look good on the internet is have pictures of you doing things like volunteer work, donating to charity or helping in your community. If people who are going to potentially hire you see things like this on your profile, then they will have a much better image in their head of who you are! The last thing you can do is avoid posting about any drama or conflicts with people. this is not only to prevent yourself from looking dramatic online but also things like this should probably be kept private!
If you want to have a successful future being responsible online is a huge part of it. If you feel like you’re in a bad place where you might post some pictures that don’t reflect you so well, then take a break from social media! Trust me you will feel much knowing that your future isn’t at risk! Also use social media to your advantage! Leave out the bad parts of your life and post the good! I know it may seem shady and untruthful and it will help you in the long run!
Overall just remember to keep a good digital footprint because in a world where technology is everything you don’t want your past to destroy your future. I don’t mean to brag, but I think I’ve done a superb job at this and I hope I will continue to be responsible on social media and I encourage everyone to do the same!

here are some pictures of some of my work I have posted online.
