About Me

My name is Julianna VanBeest. I was born on Vancouver Island but have lived here in Vancouver all my life. I wasn’t the only born that day, not even two minutes later my twin sister Christina was born. During my early childhood having a friend who was my age always seemed normal to me until I got older and realized so many people don’t have that. No everyone has a friend who is always there to have fun and make you never feel alone. Besides that I had a simple life going to school, coming home, doing homework and hanging with friends. After a got older life got harder, more change happened and I wasn’t used to much change. There was one day after school when my parents told us we would most likely be moving to Bermuda for three years. That hit me really hard, I wasn’t ready to leave and I had a plan to go to a specific high school at the time.As you can imagine, moving to a foreign country on the other side of the world can be scary. In the end, we didn’t move but I think I learned a lot during that time such as change isn’t always a bad thing, it can be good. If I went I could’ve  lived an amazing life on a beautiful island but since I stayed I got to meet all these new and amazing people that I couldn’t imagine my life without. Change can be good, it just depends on the way you look at it. I thought to change only happens in big circumstances but it happens every day and you just need to look at the bright side of it and embrace the change. looking in the future I would like to see myself with a job that helps others. I’ve always enjoyed helping others in everyday life and want to maybe be a teacher or a nurse. I also love to travel and plan to visit many new places and always keep in mind that life only happens once so I got to live it to the fullest.

“Never regret being a good person, to the wrong people. Your behavior says everything about you, and their behavior says enough about them.” – marcandangel

I chose this quote because I think it really speaks a good message. It’s never a bad thing to be nice to people who maybe necessarily don’t deserve it or aren’t nice to you. Actions go so much further than words do. I think that a good thing to remember in everyday life moving forward throughout high school.

I chose this video because I think it delivers a great message of how not giving up and not listening to all of the negative people around you will get you so far in life. All of those are great examples of people who didn’t give up and never stopped until they got where they wanted. I definitely saw the importance in this video and recommend everyone to see the importance in it too.

This is one of my favorite photos because of its good message and how accurate it actually is. It’s sad to think that so many girls these days, especially in this generation, are insecure in many different ways. From thinking they aren’t pretty, skinny, smart or good enough. It really makes me think about how one simple act of kindness or compliment can really alter some view of themselves and how we all need to be aware of this issue and try to stop it. I don’t think people realize how much of a difference a simple compliment can go.
