Animal Farm Campaign Presentation
Core Competency Reflection
After reading the book “Animal Farm” by George Orwell, one assignment that we did was the campaign video on an animal of our choice. Our group decided to choose Snowball, who in the book, had the most suited personality to become a fair, yet good leader. The video above was created using “OpenShot Video Editor” and it was a new software that I had not used before. This project helped me exercise a new way to communicate ideas. One challenge that I had when editing the video, was that my laptop was not able to handle video editing and would sometimes crash or start to suffer from major lag when doing something simple like moving clips around. This prevented me from polishing up the video, as it was such a hassle to move the clips and it wasn’t a good use of my time. This project, as mentioned before, helped me improve my critical thinking skills. Especially my time management abilities. Our group was able to complete much of the project within the given time. This was partly due to time management. When writing our script for both the video and the presentation, our group practiced creative thinking since we had to think how we would use animals as a promotional propaganda technique and how we would address the class (whether it would similar to how Snowball addressed his comrades in the book or in another way).
