During our final unit in Science 10, we learned about Space and the Big Bang Theory. For our project, we were asked to research a space technology and discover how it has impacted our world. We needed to explain the scientific attributes of the technology, the benefits/limitations, and finally, why it mattered. My partner Clara, and I created a Powtoon and combined it with video clips using iMovie to create somewhat of a documentary on our technology – The Cassini Huygens Probe.

Photography 11 was probably my favourite course this semester. I love being creative and photography has given me the power to share my work/ideas with others. For our final project, we were given the freedom to do whatever we wanted to. I knew right away that I wanted my theme to be a mix of both film/disposable photos as well as incorporating aspects of collage/mixed media. I wanted to demonstrate my knowledge of using a medium other than digital as well as adding different elements to make a normal photo more interesting. I think my final images turned out really great and I am definitely proud of the collection of photos I was able to put together in such a short time.
For our final project in French 10, we were asked to get into groups to create a music video (with the French lyrics of course). My group decided to do ours to Taylor Swift’s You Belong with Me. It was a super fun project and we were able to work well together to create an entertaining video.

Here is my first photography project of grade ten. The assignment was designed for us to create a self portrait that included different aspects of our life/personality into it (i.e. the different layers). I was super excited for this project because it would allow me to experiment with new Photoshop techniques and share a snapshot of who I am to my teacher/class.
My favourite part of this image is how I layered everything together. I especially love how I included some polaroids and quotes as well. I think polaroids are so fun and a great way to capture a moment. I think the use of the magnifying glass truly enhanced the image. I know a lot of my classmates were just using “mugshot-like” portraits of themselves, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, I am glad that I chose to do something different.
One thing that I learned during this project is how difficult is really is to incorporate 10 or more images into one. Playing with 2 layers on Photoshop is one thing, but during this project, I was using around 20, which got challenging at times. One thing that is super important to note, is that naming your layers is crucial in an assignment like this one.
If I could do something differently, I would have maybe blended my photos more, or try to experiment with other photoshop techniques. After this project, some skills I would like to learn to improve my practice are (again); experimenting with techniques (i.e. clipping masks, gradient tool, layering, etc.). Photoshop is a intense program, and I know that there are so many techniques out there that will really put my photos over the top. In conclusion, I am really proud of my final product and I am looking forward to our upcoming Photo assignments.
