Creative Thinking – Here is evidence that I can generate new ideas, build upon or combine ideas of others, develop ideas through experimentation or writing, use setbacks to advance my thinking, take significant risks with my thinking:
In this Science Safety Poster, I showed that I can think outside the box through making my poster be more unique than others using certain creative elements. An example of this is when I wrote how drinking things during a lab isn’t safe. Instead of saying something casual and simple like, “Don’t drink things during a science lab”, I wanted the slogan to be something scary, something that people wouldn’t normally forget. In this case, I thought of death, and how most people are scared of it and don’t like to touch upon the subject- which was then incorporated into my poster. Another example of creative thinking in this poster are the different shades of blue blocks. When I finished with what I wanted to put on the poster, I noticed that there was a lot of left over space. Instead of just colouring it in, I wanted to make it unique and make it stand out. To do this, I used the rectangle tool (in the paint app) and filled the space with blocks. I then colored them in in different shades of blue. Going from this creative thinking reflection, I realized that I have a good aptitude towards thinking creatively when it comes to aesthetics.
Ways that I can improve are:
Although I think I did some elements of my poster creative, I think I could’ve tried to present my poster in an entirely new way. What I mean by this is how my friend made his poster using a piece of paper. His examples of being safe in the work lab were not drawn on the paper, but physically represented on it. This meant that there were tears, cuts, and burns on the paper to represent the safety hazards in a lab.
