Core Competency: _______Creative Thinking_____________

We thought very creatively while doing this project. The whole commercial idea is an example of this. We also needed to think creatively when we were thinking about how we wanted everybody to act when they were talking. Overall, we worked hard to make this project able to give out information, while also having a creative side to it.

Shoe Project

Explanation of shoe:

The inside of my shoe represents Brent’s life before his journey: A Chicago Bulls logo, a car, and a piece of fabric representing his desire to wear cool clothing in the past. The blue figure on the tongue represents Lea, and she is connected to the orange figure, which represents Brent. This shows that Lea is always watching Brent from above. All the stars represent Brent’s love of looking into the stars. And on three of the stars, it has the names “Vega”, “Sirius”, and “Algo”, all actual stars. The each glass represents Brent’s love of going on the beach. The three stars together represent people coming together. There is also a symbol that means “together”. The paint brush represents Brent’s creativity. The peace sign shows that Brent’s life is much more peaceful than it once was. The flower represents the fact that Brent is always growing, which he clearly demonstrates in the book. The star with the musical notes shows Brent’s musical side, which he demonstrates when he plays the harmonica. The music signs are connected to the stars being together, which represents that his music brings people together.

Core Competency: Creative thinking

I thought I thought very creatively when I designed my shoe. I thought deeply into the novel Whirligig, and came up with some pretty good ideas. I think the idea of connecting things that relate with a string was a good idea, and I don’t think anyone else would have thought of it. Also, in the novel I noticed how much Brent grew as a person, so I used a flower to represent that, because they grow. I think that was pretty good creative thinking. But basically everything I put on the shoe required a certain amount of creative thinking. I thought I did a good job with the shoe.

Core Competencies Reflection

Core Competency: _______Critical Thinking______Kyle G.
DMN_______
The Sea Devil Tagxedo Reflection

I thought critically while making this tagxido because of when I reflected on the story itself. I thought through all the major events of the story, and I was able to simplify it into the amount of words needed to make this Tagxido. I thought a Dolphin shape would be appropriate for this poem because the poem is ocean related. Another person who had to think critically was the man in this story, as he had to search his brain for any last possible solutions, or he may have been dead. Fortunately for the man, he managed to make it out alive. But if it wasn’t for critical thinking, this story wouldn’t have ended well. Towards the end of the story, once the man had managed to escape, he had told himself he would never do this again. But if he ever gets stuck in a bad situation again, he knows critical thinking would really help him out.

Ways I want to improve are…

Maybe just think through the story even better. There is always room to improve. All the best writers and readers think about things most people wouldn’t think about, especially when writing. It’s important to identify what the key parts of the story are, as this would allow your writing to look much better, and look much more advanced. It really would show your understanding of the story at a completely different level.

Woodbug Lab

Reflection:
I can come up with ideas out of nowhere. This really helps me come up with creative ideas for science. Sometimes I like to build on others ideas, especially when I already like their idea; I want to make it even better. People like having me in their group, and a large part of that is because of my ability to think creatively. When my group is stuck, or has run out of ideas, I often come up with new things nobody has even thought of. In my opinion, it is most important to have creative thinking in your group. When we did our experiment, I thought creatively to help out the group.

Ways I want to improve are… I sometimes tend to let others do more than me. Maybe this is a result of being quiet. When my group members are the kinds of people that want to the most, this often happens with me. In our science experiment however, I believe I definitely did my share. William probably did the most, but me and Ben also did a lot.
