The Good Place

THE GOOD PLACE

My favorite character in the show “The good place” is Eleanor Shellstroop because she is not perfect. In “The good place”, everyone is completely perfect in every aspect. They are the one who dedicated all their lives to universal. However, Eleanor is an exception because she was sent to this place by accident. She never pretended to be someone but always showed all her qualities even some of them aren’t good. Moreover, she realized her bad side and wanted to change it. I also agree with her opinion that no one is perfect in this world.
The character I like the least is Jianyu because I think he is quite boring. However, I think that maybe he just hasn’t had enough time to show all his personality. Hopefully, in some next episodes, he will appear more in this show so we can find out more about him.
The first episode of the show “The good place” is filled with irony that breaks audiences into laughter. Firstly, in the show, Eleanor is a deceased, selfish saleswoman. She is not qualified to enter this place. However, other character except Chidi doesn’t know that, only audiences know about this which makes it become dramatic irony. Secondly, verbal irony occurs when Eleanor is invited to the party of Tahani, she was pretty sure that other people in here was imperfect. However, the reality was the opposite of what she said before. Everyone who lived here had contributed all their life with incredible achievement for human.
In my point of view, I think that the main point about society is about the choices of people in their lives that can lead to their places in the afterlife: good place or bad place, heaven or hell. Some people think that when they do bad things, no one will know about it. However, I believe what goes around comes around. If we contribute some things for others, we can have a happy life or even the afterlife. On the contrary, if we do anything bad, we will be punished in some days.
I think this episode is excellent. I didn’t find any difficulty to understand it. On the contrary, I can feel it. This episode is entertaining and ironic. For instance, Eleanor can’t say bad words because “their neighbors don’t like them”. She just can say “fork” instead of, well, you know. Moreover, I can learn many new words that relate to life.
