The idea behind the orange shirt day is to show the Trauma and suffering indigenous kids went through at residential schools. It is a day to reflect on what happened and to reconcile with Native Americans.

Part Two:
the 94 Calls to Action graph shows the progress of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on their 94 goals to the First Nations. I think the graph shows that the Commission has completed/started less than half of the goals with only completing 13 of the calls to action

on march 9 2023 the government passed legislation to make September 30 a statutory holiday to gives more people the chance to commemorate the history and legacy of the residential school system and to respect the people that have die at the schools with the life long trauma

Open in new tab I think the reason for this assignment is for student to get a more in depth understanding of what happen in residential schools and what the fist nations went thru and still go. also showing student not to treat any one differently because of their skin or ethnicity.

I think that it is interesting that when the Eupen’s came to Canada changed the name from Kwikwetlem to Coquitlam because it was too hard to say where on the other hand Coquitlam was easy. I think this show the lack of respect for the first nation culture.
