your digital footprint could affect your future opportunities because when applying for a job or college/university they ca easily search you up and fin your social media pages and what you’ve posted an said over the years and if they don’t like whats you’ve been doing or posting they won’t accept you because it could make a bad image for that company or school. as well as sports teams if thy see you’ve been doing anything illegal or unacceptable like posting videos or pictures of you doing something you shouldn’t they won’t think twice about letting you go and saying goodbye. what you do now or what you have done in the past can greatly impact your future, for better or worse.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe

the first strategy would be to not post the bad and inappropriate things in the first place and associate yourself in real life and on social media with people who you know and trust and if someone saw that you’re friends with them the first thing that came to their mind is a good thing not a bad one.

my second strategy would be to keep your setting on private and only let people you know follow you and see your posts. if you aren’t on private then anyone can follow you and some accounts could be dangerous or inappropriate that could get you in trouble or even hurt so if your on private you can manage who follows you and know that your account will be safer.

my third and final strategy would be to let your parents follow you and know what your up to. if your parent follows you then they can tell if what your doing is appropriate or not. and if something happens like someone comments something that is hurtful or inapropriate they can see and deal with it and you can also delete the comment but if it was something bad, your parents will know what to do and how to handle it.

what information did you learn that you would pass onto other students? how would you go about telling them?

I learnt that even if you delete something off you account its never really gone its still floating around somewhere and I learnt how big of an impact what you do on social media really has on you future and how when you think something is ok to post and no one important Weill see it your wrong, they can easily search you up and find out loads of information on you in a few clicks of their mouse. I would tell other student by just simply saying be careful, don’t post anything you’d be uncomfortable with your family seeing or you think a future employer will think differently about you after seeing it.
