Acts of Remembrance

In order to remember those that we have lost, we perform acts of remembrance to honour them. My personal favourite way to commemorate the fallen is by a moment of silence, as it is a gesture of respect and mourning. Bellow I have attached an image from the Vancouver Sun, of a veteran taking part in a moment of silence. The reason that this photo spoke to me was because this man understands better then anyone what it is like to be in war and what it means to take a moment to mourn.

Another of my favourite ways to respect the fallen is by placing flowers at the place of their burial. This is more personal then a moment of silence, as one takes time out of their day and money out of their pocket to visit a certain person. I am grateful that I haven’t lost anyone close to me to death, but I know that on special days (such as their birthday, or a day of tradition between us) I will visit them and bring them their favourite flowers.
