Write / Publish books and articles, teach courses, review other people’s research, and supervise graduate students

a. Training?
Training in research, have to have a Ph.D.
b. Education?
Ph.D. in criminology or sociology
c. Experience?
Aside from education no experience is required but it encouraged
d. Skills and attributes (personal qualities)?
Research methods, good communication (teaching)
5. What are some things you like about this job?
Freedom/flexibility to work anywhere / any time aside from scheduled teaching. Love doing research and working with data. Enjoys teaching and mentorship of students.
6. What are some things you dislike about this job?
Dislikes dealing with whiney or annoying students and dislikes meetings because you can’t really change anything
7. How do you think this job might change in the next 5-10 years (technology, etc.)?
Online learning will change the nature of the work. AI like ChatGPT are disturbing writing processes

c. Sometimes teaching students who don’t want to learn is demanding ( difficult subject matter )
3. Is this a job for you? Why or why not?
I cant say for sure if this job is for me yet, because I’m still in my first year of high school and i barely know what interests I have let alone my future career. I do think I have good qualities for this kind of job but I can’t say for sure.
4. How are technology and digital literacy used in this job?
Technology and digital literacy are involved or used in almost every aspect of this job. I think and know this because research, teaching, publishing/writing books all use technology to function efficiently.
5. Explain the value of your TOKW experience about your ideas about your plans after high school.
Like I said before, I still don’t know what I’m planning to do for my future, but taking your kid to work day has given me an insider’s view at a potential future job and has been a great experience. Overall its value is very high. Take Your Kid to work day has given me insight into my future education, not just my career because my dad is an STU professor on campus.
