One extracurricular activity I have loved for many years is soccer. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 or 5 and have loved every part of it. When I was young nobody knew what positions were, so we would just run around the field having fun. There is one memory I have from when I was this age where I was playing Mari Kart WII in my head and running around on the opposite end of the field. This time was fun, but I’ve moved on and improved a lot.
As I got older, around the age of 7-8 people started playing positions, the position I chose to play is defense. This is also the age were kids started taking soccer more competitively and the clubs started making select teams that consisted of the club’s best players for that age. When I turned 12 it was the first year, we started playing full field and I mad the club’s division 1 team which is the second-best team. I really enjoy playing with the people on this team and I feel we have improved a lot individually and as a team over the past 2 years.
One of the reasons I like soccer is it is a distraction from my schoolwork. I get time to be focused on something I really enjoy doing and it‘s a great way to relieve stress. Another reason is that I enjoy running around and I do that a lot in soccer. This is one of my main sources of fitness and activity so it‘s extremely important that I continue to play. One final reason I enjoy soccer is the chemistry and bonds I have made with the players on my team. Since we have been playing together so long, we have all became friends and understand how each other play.
