Student Reflections:
1. Give three reasons why you would like this job (be specific):
-
- Nice work environment. The work environment and area are designed well and gives a nice and effective place to work.
- Lots of nice places nearby for breaks. The area they have chosen downtown is well placed. It is placed in an area the would allow you to get something good to eat or get some shopping down.
- People are all nice and helpful. Everyone in the office all seemed nice and ready to help with something.
2. Give three reasons why you would not like this job (be specific):
-
- Frequent calls and meetings. I find I don’t have the patience for long and boring calls with people. Sometimes you just need a break from talking and be able to sit down and work,
- The work is very repetitive and boring. I find that it is lots of emailing people and talking on calls, which would be incredibly slow and boring.
- From where I live the Commute Distance can be a bit long. It took us around 45 minutes to drive there and that was with good traffic and HOV lane. I would much rather work somewhere that is closer to my house.
3. Is this job for you? Why or why not?
I would say this job isn’t for me because I don’t have the patience to do the same kinds of calls and emails reading every day. I would rather do something where I must do more critical thinking because I find I would enjoy it more and be better at it.
- Explain the value of the TYKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post-secondary (after high school) plans (education?, training?, travel?, work?).
The TYKTW day relates to my post-secondary plans because it shows the kind of environment I will likely work in for some time. Although I hope to do something different I have to be open to doing a job like this.
