My name is Olivia, and the header photo is a picture I took of my three year old dog, Cinqo. Photography is just one of my many hobbies.
I read, write and draw all the time and if you were to look in my back pack you would see that the contents would consist of at least two reading books both with a bookmark stuck part way through, a note/sketch book, two note books, one or two sketch books, a digital drawing pad, a generous amount of pencil cases, my phone (for taking photos, texting and of course, reading and writing), my lunch, maybe a script, and a bunch of random junk and assorted papers dwelling in the bottom most corners and pockets of my bag. I can read six hundred page books in a couple hours, and have most likely read over 900 books in the fourteen years I have walked this earth. I have always had a passion for drawing, I often doodle in class to help with focus, and am currently taking classes and teaching at a local art school. I have been taking art technic classes for four years and two years ago I won 3rd in an peoples choice art competition. Last year I was asked to volunteer there and now to have a teaching job there. Many people (parents, teachers, and friends) have told me that I should right a book. I agree. as well as drawing I have a passion for creative, freelance writing and am in the middle of writing a novel now and am planning on writing my own digital comic. It seems that I am an artsy person because in the last three years I have worked in five theatre shows. The three school shows: grade six: ‘Tales of Mystery and Imagination ‘I played one of the creepy ghost twins’ Clara and Clara’, grade seven: ‘Search For the Ancient Hawaiians’ ‘Marla’ (lead), on the summer of grade seven I auditioned for one of the shows at the Evergreen Cultural Centre and got in: ‘Canada 150’ ‘Tim Hortons girl’ and ‘Amazing Race Assistant’, grade eight: ‘The Dread Pirate Sadie’ I played as ‘Sadie’ (Lead, I was the ‘The Dread Pirate Sadie’ in the ‘The Dread Pirate Sadie’ show), and this summer I auditioned for another show t the Evergreen and again I made it in: ‘The Black Hole’ ‘Elga’ (lead) and ‘Tim Hortons girl’ (the black hole show is from sept. 24 to sept. 29 2018, 11 shows). I also participate and have participated in many sports (soccer, dance, horse riding, basketball, field hockey, outdoor rock climbing 5.9’s, swimming, volleyball, skiing, snowboarding, martial arts, fencing, bike riding, hiking, skating, high jump, long jump, relays and other running activities, and I can do flips on trampolines, into foam pits or off the three metre diving board). Other random things about me: I live with my dog (he is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, Duck Toller for short), my mom, my dad, and my younger brother. I was not born here, I was born in Ottawa, Ontario and lived there for the first six years of my life, I am currently still in touch with one of my best friends from Ottawa. I am not really sure what I want to be (job wise) after high school, though I dream to walk into book store and see my name of the cover of a book (hopefully with the title best seller) and to become an actress, maybe. If I become successful I want to live on a beach surrounded by rivers and a dense pine forest, in a beautiful house and own a horse ranch with goats and dogs. Despite only wearing dresses for grad and plays (I’m strictly hoodies, t-shirts an leggings/jean shorts) I enjoy designing dresses.
My Favourite Quotes:
I picked these four quotes because either I could relate to them and found them so true, or it supports my beliefs. The first quote ‘Strangers think I’m quiet, my friends think I’m out-going, my best friends know I’m completely insane’ is exactly me. I tend to be quite shy and quiet at first, I contribute in class discussions and such but other than that I am usually pretty shy. If you spoke to my parents or some of my mutual friends they would deny that I am at all shy and would say that I am not afraid to try new things and pretty much try everything (exclusion of bad things). But, my closest, best, friends who I am completely comfortable and not shy around think well… that I’m crazy. One of my other best friends who is just like me often asks ‘why are you like this’ and ‘are you okay’ to that I either say ‘you are like this to, that’s why we are friends’ or ‘no I’m not okay *laughs*’ (I am okay don’t worry, we are just weird). When I first saw the quote ‘My coach said i run like a girl and I said you could to If you ran a little faster’ I smiled and clapped (Equality and girl power!!). The quote ‘The greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do’ I agree with. I may not be ‘the greatest pleasure’ but proving people wrong and achieving your goals and especially proving sexist people wrong gives me great satisfaction. I have a friend who never uses commas. I always use commas. I sometimes use them to much, I love commas. One day I showed that friend the quote ‘I love cooking my family and my pets’ and said ‘this is you’, then I showed her the next half of the quote, ‘Use commas, don’t be a psycho’ and said ‘this is me’.
My favourite Youtube video:
I don’t have a favourite. I watch a lot of Youtube, so I picked a video that means a lot to me.
This is a video that the breeder, that we got our dog from, posted of the puppies when they were five weeks old. Cinqo, my dog, is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, and if it is possible to see, I doubt it is, the is the puppy with the green collar. I love watching this video, and we don’t have many pictures of Cinqo when he was this small so it is really cute to watch.
My Favourite websites (the two websites I use the most):
The two websites would be Netflix and Webtoon. I watch a lot of Netflix shows, with my mom, my whole family, my brother, my friends and by myself. Webtoon is an online comic website. People post their own comics on ‘Discover’ (a section of Webtoon) and if their comic is really good and popular they can get featured. When they are featured they get booths at comic cons and get paid by Webtoon.

Webtoon: http://webtoons.com
Meaningful picture:
When I was looking for a ‘meaningful picture’ this photo stood out to me. It is of a pawn (the lowest piece in chess) looking in the mirror, and seeing himself/herself as a king (one of the highest pieces in chess). To me this picture is sad, yet heartwarming. Most people have very low self esteem but this pawn sees what he/she can be and loves itself. I saw another version of this photo and instead of the circle mirror it have the ‘Mirror of Erised’ from Harry Potter. The mirror of Erised is backwards for Desire. In Harry Potter the mirror showed what the lookers highest desire was. I found this image more sad because I saw itself as low and unimportant and just wanted to be powerful and special. I guess that could be interpreted as the pawn dreaming to be something better and working hard to be it’s best self, but to each their own. One picture is worth a thousand words.
Great work! You have done a very good job putting together your about me page and have integrated your media seamlessly onto your page. Your comments are thorough without being too revealing and indicate a good understanding of digital literacy.
