Assignment 7

My day may look bad to some people, but I like it. I have fun, I relax, and I love my day.

It turns out that a lot of my family likes blueberries. Personally, I like raspberries. Some are sweet, and some are savoury.

With the numbers I used, if it were real, it would be a great way to earn more money. It would go to my own place if it were real.

DL Assignment 7

Digital Citizenship

Screen time awareness

I spend about 15-30 minutes online for homework between English and others. I spend between 2-2 ½ hours per school day in class. In total, the most I spent is up to three hours. I spend about an hour each day from Monday to Thursday. It looks like an hour of screen time, but from Friday to Sunday, it is from an hour to two hours. I feel like I have a good balance of screen time because I use exactly 2 and a 1/2hours and maybe 3 hours between school and leisure time. I think I can cut back on screen time, including a bit of gaming, to do some more practice for my hockey. I could go with one of my teammates who lives nearby, shoot some pucks, pass, and do simple basic hockey training in the hockey box. I could also set reminders on my phone to play outside and hop off the devices. A1

 Password hygiene

I have my passwords saved, but my habits could be better. I rely on auto-save for my passwords. I cannot remember my Gmail password, let alone any others. I need to use better passwords because many are the same. I update my passwords when they tell me to. That is not a good thing to do, but I’m not perfect. I have enabled 2FA on some of my passwords. I have it on my Gmail and for one video game. According to Microsoft, “One of the most important ways to ensure that your online accounts are safe and secure is to protect your passwords.” Some of the things I can do are make sure the password is not a word in the dictionary or the name of a person, character, product, or organization. I can also make my password a passphrase like what Microsoft shared such as “6MonkeysRLooking^”. B2

 Who you are Online

I do not have any social media platforms. The only one I have is I message and text my friends and family. I also have a YouTube account to watch videos, yet I do not make videos or post comments on other people’s videos. My online self matches who I am. However, I do not have much of an online presence. Although some people might think I am a little different because I like my video games and tend to act like a gamer when I go online; however, I like activities that get me energized and excited, like hockey, versus all curled up in the dark, staring at my iPhone. I intentionally want to control how I want to be seen online because I have no social media presence. I have not found a reason to be on social media like Facebook and Instagram. Instead, I want to be the kind, Intelligent Gamer I am. A3

 Fact-checking awareness

I always verify the information before sharing it. I check multiple sources to ensure it’s factual and not someone’s opinion or fake news. People online could be talking about a new gaming system that is not actually coming out and putting out a fake website of where they got it from. If I saw that, I would go to the company’s website who made the gaming system, to check if it is true. Also, I would go to people online, like well-known influencers, to see if they are talking about it. The steps I can take to ensure I am sharing reliable information with my online community to avoid unnecessary gossip is to look at websites like CBC or google to find out if this information is not clickbait or gossip before I share it..
