To Kill A Mockingbird

The “To Kill a Mockingbird” project was one of the biggest projects I’ve ever had to do. With a partner we were to choose 10 written components and 5 artistic components to do and share with the class as well as preform an interview before the class of a character from the book and a lady from an article we had read in a week. Critical Thinking was necessary to complete the written components. My partner and I decided to split the tasks we had not completed together in half fairly to complete our assignment faster. We had planned out our likes and dislikes, the lessons we learned, our first impressions, where we thought the characters were now, some questions we had, and comparing and contrasting characters. Although this still left me re-writing a chapter from the book, writing a letter, and writing up analyzes for our drawings. I had to reflect on the book and analyze my feelings on the book. I used different writing techniques to capture the essence of what we were doing and design the poster to insure everything would fit. Creative thinking was also use in the writing aspects along with my imagination but a lot of it was used with the artistic parts of the project. I channeled myself into the characters from the book to try to capture who they were. This was used in creating a dairy entry and drawing Boo Radley’s bedroom. I was able to create a new book cover that gave a hint of what would happen in the book and capture peoples interest, as like it or not people do judge a book by its cover more often than not. Creative thinking also helped me write a poem for this project. Social Responsibility and Personal Awareness and Responsibility were also a major part of this project. I was able to work in a group peacefully and do a fair amount of work, and work together as well as work apart. My partner and I were happy with what the other person was doing and talked about everything together before finalizing. With this project I had to be aware of what I was able to do personally. We split the tasks up equally and in favor of what we each wanted to do and who could do it “better”. The last part of the project was the interview which used all the core competencies. I used creative thinking to imagine how the people would react to a question and what types of questions they would ask. I analyzed the characters, I acted as one of the people, and I included emotion and reality into our skit.
