A Midsummer Night’s Dream-Act 2 Scene 1

In this assignment, we got the chance to create a group of preferably three to four. My team had to choose a scene in the story A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare. We decided Act Two, Scene Two. After selecting the part of which we’re going to present, we had to summarize the entire scene until it’s below two min. Right after performing the two minute, we had to show a one-minute summary, followed by a thirty second and ten seconds. The one and two minutes must be in old English, and the thirty and ten must be in modern English. It was difficult for my group to present the ten-second one, given the short amount of time and the actions we had to include. There were only three members compared to five characters in the scene, so we had to switch the roles quickly. At first, we hesitated about getting this assignment finished, but we surprising got it done in time and practiced quite a bit. It was also hard summarizing the whole scene, mainly down to a ten second. However, I believe that I have improved quite a lot in the oral communication. My voice projected louder and more apparent, and I made more contact with the audience. Overall, the primary core competencies used in this project is communication and creativity because of the tone, body language, eye contact, and the verbal performance that was needed and included. We had to be creative with the scenes while narrowing the lines down. The visual and content are both equally important such as props. The video above shows the two-minute performance that we did.
