Here is my favourite picture that I have completed so far in photography 9.
It’s easy to take another course such as foods, Hollywood, dance, and things like that, but I chose photography for many particular reasons. Not only because it is a hobby, but also something I believe that you’ll need in the future. A camera is capable of many other things than just taking photos. It can capture memories that you soon may forget in the future. Those many skills you learned in photography can bring you joy; as a job or hobby. Things that I was looking forward to learning about is: how to edit photos in Photoshop, how to properly use a camera, how to get better photos with quality, and of course, more knowledge about photography in general. One of the main reasons of why I took photography is because I loved taking pictures of landscapes, animals, and architecture. Knowing how to use the basic structures of the camera to me isn’t enough. A particular skill you need for a good quality photo is “composition,” where you decide where and how the location of each object can bring itself to their fullest extent in an image. A lot of inspiration also comes when taking photos, creativity is another great skill to have in your pocket.
As I mentioned above, the composition is a big thing and is one of the most said things in the course. It is like the homemade icing on the top of a cupcake. Without the frosting, the cupcake just wouldn’t be as terrific. Other than that, I learned many things within each unit and topic such as shutter speed, use of Photoshop, depth of field, rule of thirds, and many things you’ll need when taking photos. It’s good to learn about the techniques you might use, but I think that it is more important to learn about the mindset of a photographer. Using different angles, perspectives while being unique and creative with your style is what makes you stand out from the others.
When I first started the course, my goal was to become a better photographer than when I finish the course, and I know for a fact that I’ve improved quite a bit in these few months and learned many things that I’ve listed above. However, photography did set up some insurmountable challenges for me on the way. In my opinion, creativity, using the elements and principles of design, and composition is something that I need to improve. It was hard not to take the same kind of pictures as everyone else and was hard to get the inspiration that you wanted. The most challenging project that I came upon is the rule of thirds, fill in the frame. These two projects were challenging due to the assigned content that was needed. Avatar and Magazine was also challenging. I had to mostly spend time on Photoshop instead of using a camera. The use of layers was confusing, but it was more comfortable than the other parts of the project since I had experience with it when drawing digitally using programs such as Paint Tool Sai. Even though there some projects were challenging, such as the Avatar, it was still one of my favourite projects to finish.
