How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities?

Your digital footprint can have a big impact on your life, from getting the job you want to having a good positive reputation on the internet. To ensure everything that goes on the internet is appropriate and reflects well on you, you can ask yourself a couple of questions. These include: Would my parents  approve of what I posted? In years to come am I going to want my kids to see what I posted?  Currently there are no posts or videos of me on the internet. When I search my Instagram account the only thing to come up is my private profile. No pictures are shown due to me being private.

Describe strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe?

To maintain a safe and positive digital footprint you should first of all make sure your social media platforms are private and that you know all the people following you on them. Secondly, make sure your pictures are appropriate. Thirdly, don’t tell other people your passwords. Fourthly, remember that even if you didn’t upload the images of yourself to the internet others could have taken photos from your social media accounts and put them on the internet. So remember don’t upload anything that could come back on you or result negatively towards you in the future. Lastly, make regular check ups by searching your name on the internet to stay informed everything about you on the internet is positive. These are some ways of keeping your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

What information did I learn that I would pass onto other students?

I would tell the students that your digital footprint can have a major impact on your life and that it’s important to maintain a safe and positive digital footprint .It’s better to approach all social media accounts and websites with taking the small important steps of understanding everything that’s going on with those sites before uploading. Also I would let them know when you upload something it will always be on the internet and you can never completely get rid of it, so make sure when you upload content that your positive it’s the right decision. This way you won’t give away any personal information or create a bad reputation of yourself on the internet.

2 Thoughts.

  1. Good job on completing your Digital Footprint assignment. Here is your evaluation:

Message shows a good understanding of your digital footprint. Media works well with your message but the two could complement each other better. More images and more relevant images would help to improve this. Good information present; answers are accurate and reflect an understanding of your digital footprint. The final product would be well received by an audience but may not illicit a further response or discussion.

  2. You have done a good job constructing your infographic. Images and text are present and are used in a way that enhances the information present. You have good information about all three of the topics (google searches, reliability of information, and your personal learning network) but need to cite the sources of your images. Good effort. 4.5/5
