Core Competency Reflection: I used creative thinking in this assignment as I had to come up with an idea for the poem and what picture to use. I went with a wintery picture because well I wish that the amount of snow on the ground and trees in that picture are what I wish Port Moody looked like right now as I want it to snow like really badly. I also picture one of my own cats Satsuki as the cat mentioned in the poem as she always loved the snow when it came which made her diffrent from my other two cats Erza and Luna as they both like to stay indoors more then go outside and yes all my cats are named after female anime characters don’t judge me. I also had to come up with several literary devices for this assignment and I’m going to be honest I came up with them of the top of my head while I was writing.So one thing I would change for this assignment is the literary device usage, although they are good I could make them better and maybe seem less forced but that can only be done with more writing area something that this assignment dosent provide as you are limited by the picture size which is about 10 lines. So that would be one thing I would change about the structure of the assignment is maybe to allow students to make the actual poem in word were they have more space and would just copy the poem over in a smaller font. But all in all I do like this assignment and the Pic-lits program.
Reflection: I used Critical Thinking for this assignment by deciding where to show pictures and information in the form of words on the infographic. However choosing what information to put on the infographic was difficult and time consuming because I had to go back through my notes and look back through the textbook to find out what information is necessary to include on it. One thing I would improve is toning down the amount of text based information on the last slide and add more picture based information as it may have been to much to read and may have dragged on at times. Another thing I could have improved was my overall thought in the design of the infographic as it was very linear and could have came off as boring or basic seeing as the pictures were always put either above below or beside the text and some like the trickle down economic picture may have not made sense for the actual time period the infographic was on which is the Industrial Revolution and I could have shown a better picture that represents that time period.
Reflection: My group had to communicate when we made this video as we had to say what ideas we had for it and what different people should say and what roles they would perform myself playing the part of Boxer the Carthorse. One thing I would improve for next time is the length I would make the video about 30 seconds longer. we did have several other scenes filmed but we removed them because they didn’t help get across the message we were trying to convey. Although one major thing I would improve is getting a diffrent group entirely except for Callum as he tried to work along with me because it was very hard to get the rest of our group to focus and stay on task although in there defense it may be hard to keep a straight face when your doing an assignment about a horse running for office.
The Rwandan Genocide was a point in history that from the presentation that our class was given makes me think history would like to forget. The Rwandan Genocide began when the president of Rwanda’s plane was shot down and the government believed that it was an attack done by Tutsi rebels which prompted the trained Hutus to go around the country and try to kill all of the Tutsis who they believe were traitors. When you here about all of the massacres that this countries own people were doing to each other, it makes me happy that I live in Canada where this kind of thing doesn’t happen or at least not to this scale. It also makes me happy that we live in a united country that doesn’t have two physical sides just a political one however, both of those political sides are able to come together on certain issues instead of just fighting it out like the Hutus and Tutsis in Rwanda.
Core Competency Reflection: Me and Callum had to think critically for this assignment as we had to come up with a creative story. We spent 2 classes writing the story and the 3rd presenting it to the rest of the class. The writing process for the story was honestly just us two writing what came into our brains at the time although we still did try to have a plot consistency so, over all the main critical thinking from this assignment came from the process of us writing the incredibly complex narrative of our story Lucky Log.
Reflection: this assignment is very hard to write a reflection as there honestly was nothing thought about for each of the core competencies during this assignment but I will try. I used Creative Thinking During this assignment as I had to think of what royalty free photos I could use. I also had to come up with slogans that had rhyme in it to make awareness on safety hazards in a Science lab. There is nothing I believe I could improve as this assignment is very self explanatory but maybe I could have added a diffrent coloured background
Reflection: my group used core competences specifically creative thinking during this assignment as we had to think about a ton of things. Like how many Woodbugs we were going to use and what other materials we were going to use and of course what our experiment was going to and how it was going to work. Overall what we did was put apples on one side and oranges on the other and we dropped our 10 woodbugs in the middle of the shoebox we were using and time them for 10 minutes and would see how many Woodbugs went to each of the two fruits. However we made an error as their were two cardboard pieces over top of the box holding it togeither and most of the bugs decided that shade from the harsh light in the classroom was more important than food and a lot of them stayed under the shade during all of our 3 tests on them. So the one thing I would change is get rid of any possible shade to let the experiment happen as intended
My group communicated during this assignment as we recorded our voices and had to communicate and learned how to record or share our voices in a way we hadn’t done before. We also had to communicate are ideas into writing as we wrote the script for the assignment and had to communicate what we wanted each persons lines total to be for better or for worse in some cases as some of us ended up with more lines then others. For next time I would suggest making an even number of lines that are the same length. All in all I think we did a good job communicating are ideas for this assignment and I hope you enjoy listening to it.
