Socials 9 American Revolution Project

The core competency I displayed during this project was Creative thinking. I was able to generate more ideas for what to do as I researched my topic (Boston Massacre). I was also able to come up with ideas that were new, like adding a panel with a gunshot sound when the gun was fired. I really liked this idea because I thought it was unique and added a sort of more comical aspect to a much darker event. I also had a close up panel of a British soldier handling and shooting a rifle. I also thought this was sort of unique, although not as unique as the first example.

I learned lots about the Boston Massacre when researching it. The reason I learned so much about it is because I had to go to many different sources. Lots of the sources had some information, but was missing some other parts so I’d have to go to many sources. This includes 2 different textbooks in the classroom, and about 5 or 6 different websites. It was good that I learned so much because I had more information to work with. While I was working on this project at home I could’ve done better on doing things to quiet the conscious mind. I just kept working without having any breaks or taking walks or anything.

I feel that I did a good job when it came to making my ideas work, and if they didn’t work, I would change them. I was originally supposed to draw the mob of people getting shot in my comic, but I thought it would be a bit too complicated. I wouldn’t be able to draw that without it looking odd. Luckily, I was able to think of a creative way to draw shots being fired, without showing the mob of people getting shot. I could have done a better job adding detail to my drawings in my comic and I think doing that would’ve improved my mark.
