Assignment 7 – Excel Graphing

In this pie chart, I have expressed the ingredients needed and used to make my pizza in the left column of the data table, as well as the amount of each ingredient in the right column. (I have used (grams) as the unit of the ingredient, and listed all the ingredients used to make the pizza and the amount of each ingredient.)

In the pie chart, I expressed the percentage of each ingredient occupied in a different color, and I also expressed the specific grams of each ingredient. (I converted the specific grams of each ingredient in the pie chart to a percentage of the pie chart, but still labeled the specific grams.)

We can see that of the ingredients used, gluten flour is the most used ingredient with a grams figure of 110 grams or 58% of the pie chart percentage, and salt is the least used ingredient with a grams figure of 1. 5 grams or 0.95% of the pie chart percentage.

In this bar graph, I expressed and demonstrated the number of friends’ birthdays per month. In the data table, I wrote the names of all the months in the left column, and the number of friends’ birthdays I had per month in the right column, well in the bottom bar graph, on the x-axis, I listed the names of all the 12 months and labeled them on the bottom, and on the y-axis, I listed the number of friends that might reach each month, listed from 0 to 7. The blue bar rows clearly show how many of my friends had birthdays each month.

  • (This is a growing practice I did as part of a hands-on science activity in 6th grade, and I kept very clear records of the daily height changes (and data) of the soybean sprouts I grew.)

In this line graph, I have expressed and recorded  change in height of a soybean tooth per day over a period of eight days.

In the data table, on the left side, I have listed the number of days that the soybean tooth has been growing (eight days in total), and on the right side, I have listed the height of soybean sprouts per day/cm (what is the height of the tooth per day.)

In the bottom line graph, I used Changes in height process of soybean sprouts growth as the title of the line graph and on the x-axis I listed and wrote the total number of days the sprouts had been growing (eight), also, on the y-axis, I listed and the height of soybean sprouts per day that they might have grown to (cm ), and of course there are orange dots expressing daily height of the sprouts and the dotted lines expressing the growth height trend.

Assignment-3 (Alternate Assignment)

I will choose the reflection question 2 for my take our kids to work day Alternate assignment reflection.

 ‘ Describe your ideal school – what would you change from what you have experienced to date at Heritage Woods? What would the building look like, the courses offered and the style of learning – do you like the present style, or would you like more choice? Include images to help you explain your points.’

Info; In the day of take our kids to work day, for a number of reason, i didn’t go to the place where my parents work.

During the two months of studying at Heritage Woods Secondary, I experienced a different feeling in high school. I have had a very unforgettable transition experience from the nervousness and anxiety of high school life at the beginning of the school year, very ignorant and unhurried. And let me gradually accept the slow pace of learning in high school. I found I was very interested in the required and elective courses that i choose of heritage woods secondary school this semester, and what I learned in each course is what I like to delve into and study.

Certainly, I find that the curriculum from now was good. I can tell that i enjoy the current curriculum and content, after another two months at heritage woods, I feel that there can be more room for development and breakthroughs in learning, curriculum delivery, and course content away from my ideal and imagined heritage woods, because in comparison to my ideal heritage woods, there are now I feel that there is a lot of room for development and breakthroughs in learning, course offerings, and course content in Heritage woods compared to what I would like to see in Heritage woods.

The following is a description of the aspects of my ideal and desired heritage woods in terms of my view that heritage woods needs more choices in terms of learning from the present style of course offerings, and is not limited to the existing curriculum.

Part 1
Aspects of the content of the different courses, (what needs to be improved in the current curriculum)
1. Type of science classes,
Present science lessons & my ideal science lessons

Present Science Lessons;

In science class, the unit of physics and design, the teacher taught us about knowledge of circuit diagrams, we learned about current events, different connections and voltage, I’ve learned that voltage is responsible for directional movement of free charges in a circuit to form electric current. My own personality of being a bit extreme and not giving up easily has also played a role in my exploration of science. I have also taught myself electric power, electric fields sources in order to improve my skills more proficient in a variety of this type of knowledge. In the unit of chemistry, we learn about chemical reactions, Ion diagrams & Bohr diagrams. Periodic table……, How to determine whether a substance is metallic or not. Mixed chemical formulas。 I have been able to learn what others have not through my own learning. Every thing were going grateful for according to the hole planning of our study that related to the curriculum. Well, this is the part that i think heritage woods needs to work on and improve of getting the level of my ideal secondary school. In my opinion, I think the current science subject series is far from my ideal secondary school science series and is very restrictive and limiting.

My Ideal ”Science series” Lessons;

In our learning content, science generally includes physics, chemistry, and biology which we must learn – the content includes learning electricity, circuit diagrams. Chemistry will learn the familiar periodic table of elements. In chemistry, we learn about the Periodic Table of Elements, and in natural sciences, we learn about natural changes that we use. We may inadvertently think of science as a combination of these disciplines, but it is important to realize that science does not only include these disciplines, but also involves other areas of distribution.

My ideal heritage woods would study a more comprehensive science and include some (social sciences, humanities and social sciences, computer sciences, thinking sciences, psychology, artificial intelligence.) within the main courses of science series—physics, chemistry, and biology. Students can choose from two of these extracurricular sciences as electives for a semester of science. One of these electives is 40 minutes long, and after the two electives, they can take a one hour main science class to better absorb the knowledge. Each week is followed by a series of lectures on college science subjects to prepare students for college. In addition, practical science activities are organized every three days. The performance of the practical science activities will be integrated into the final grade, which will be 15% of the total grade. In order to cultivate students’ ability of hands-on scientific investigation and thus the overall development of students’ thinking.

Because I have strong great ambition and self-discipline in science learning and homework, I hope that the school will have no limitations on science series of courses, and let go of imagination of the curriculum.

The areas covered in these diagrams are areas that I would like to see the school expand, so that students can pick their favorite two to three elective subjects and expand their curriculum. I think this will make the school’s science department more comprehensive and all-encompassing, and will develop students’ all-around development of science from different perspectives, knowing that science is a complex and macroscopic subject, and that we can’t be confined to four major science sections, namely, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Natural ( Earth ) Sciences,

we have to keep exploring and learning.

Part 2;

My ideal elective ”art course” & elective course

the art course that the school present had, was a big point that i think the school needs to develop. And had big space for improving.

As someone who loves art and has a high demand for spatial thinking, i think for more close to my ideal art course, the school needs to work on these.

For the art course that presently in heritage woods, we’ve learn many things about art, and to know more knowledge and information of art, we were learning from the basic art style and art works, to many types of ways for preforming and showing art, i have learn lots of things, and more playing the role of my talent of art and drawing, i have showing many pictures of my artwork, and to try many different media to create pictures。Although my art course study has explored many ways to mix and match and use tools to maximize the effect and present different perspectives, and referred to the works of many painters, art is a step-by-step and breakthrough process, and the way to express art is not only limited to painting and drawing, but also using the techniques of piecing, pasting, sewing, cutting and paper rolling to better express us. The methods of expressing art are not only limited to painting, drawing, but can also be used to better express our emotions and inner feelings by using the techniques of piecing, pasting, sewing, cutting and rolling。。。。。infinite methods. Art has no boundaries or limitations, each unique piece of artwork is created out of our imagination and inspired by our imagination, thus instilling our emotions and feelings.

Although my teacher has taught me to paint with different tools, I don’t feel that it has allowed me to realize and achieve the breakthroughs that I have been asking for. Art is not only about showing ourselves by drawing with different tools, but art is broad and involves many fields, even computation and math.

What we need to know is that apart from drawing and expressing ourselves with different tools, there are also spatial art, architecture, sculpture, painting, time and space art, static art, arts and crafts, animation, editing, costume design, jewelry design, sewing design, crafts design and other ways of expressing art, and I feel that the art course at heritage woods should not be limited to expressing art only by drawing with different tools, but also by using different tools. I think heritage woods art course should not only be limited to using different tools to express art, but also to look at art with a deeper understanding.

My ideal art class is not only to learn the art field involved in the spatial art, architecture, sculpture, painting, time and space art, static art, arts and crafts, animation, editing, costume design, jewelry design, sewing design, crafts design and other skills of artistic expression, thus enhancing and emphasizing my personal demand for excellence and perfection, observational skills and applied technical skills. So in order for us art lovers to have a more advanced and broader perspective of art, there is also art practice. Teachers will regularly take us to visit various museums, art galleries, art museums, collections, and other places with a strong artistic flavor to visit, tour and explain, and observe and expand our artistic horizons, so that we can find inspiration and use our newly learned painting techniques to create better paintings.

Art Subjects

7 Major Painting Styles, From Realism to Abstract

I think this is something that the school needs to progress and realize. And that was also for reaching the level of my ideal school art class the school needs to improve and hard working on, let art be more comprehensively and let more and more students like art and to practice and exercise their skills on art. i think this was the part that in present the school don’t have and the school needs to keeping on. I think there also a large space for us to improve our school art system and course.

Remark ( For the school math course in heritage woods and math department, according the content and curriculum that the course now i was on, i think the content and the curriculum that the school offered and furnished, i think there were nothing to change, and it was absolutely according and reaching the level of my ideal school. even more extending than my ideal math department and course was. The math accelerated course that i choose in, was the best part of my school day learning process. Also the course i did not choose wrong. the teacher taught us higher level math, and to explore more, we also have math club and math challengers exercise course, that helps us to be more stronger on math. There were also having different contest of math that we can challenge ourselves. this course was a very strong course that was overweight of my ideal course level, and fulfillment my heart for study more and challenges.

Part three.

My ideal school appearance and the appearance of the school building.

Title - Heritage Woods Secondary School Heritage Woods Secondary - 1300 David Ave

From now present days, school outside building appearance was look like the image that shows above, the school main color was dark red and black。Environment was also good for students to study and place for we to communicate. The current heritage woods is spectacular and grand in appearance and has an artistic and technological feel to it, and the auditorium inside is large with lots of chairs and round tables where students can study, eat and do their homework. The school also provides a cafeteria and kiosks for students who are thirsty or hungry. The school is divided into three floors. Standing on the aisle of the second floor, there is a balcony from which students can look down on the scene below. Each classroom has a serial number and is very orderly. The school also has a large capacity gymnasium, a library, a huge athletic track, and a basketball court. Overall very grand & atmospheric and orderly and convenient, which is what I preferred about the school’s facilities and appearance. Overall I am satisfied, but I think with the development of science and technology and the progress of the times, school facilities, appearance of the building, etc. will become more and more advanced and technologically advanced, the appearance of the appearance of the building will also be improved a lot, and my ideal school building appearance and facilities is very technologically advanced.

For my ideal heritage woods school building appearance and facilities, The campus is full of greenery, bird-filled, and set up a mega-swimming pool. The playground and athletic track are 10 times larger than the previous playground. Having the playground underground and the swimming pool above ground makes the facility both convenient and accommodating for our sports. It is also convenient for all the competing programs to come together for school sports, and other festivals. In the corner next to the grand hall, a virtual room will be set up so that if you stand in the virtual room and have a question in mind that you don’t understand, the virtual room will show you and tell you exactly what it is. This time greatly reduce our questions, and play a role in answering questions and solving problems.

As we entered the classroom of our own course, the computer on the desk would remind to hand in the homework and check it. There are two automatic lights on everyone’s desk, the white light is when it lights up to remind you not to break the rules, which include eating, grabbing things, playing with cell phones, talking loudly in class, bringing headphones to class, chatting, etc., and one is a red light when it lights up to indicate that you’ve broken a rule and will report it to the teacher on time, and the machine will automatically deduct your marks and lower your final grade. This kind of technological facilities is what I am looking forward to and looking forward to, not only can it make our learning environment become good and clean, and concentrate on listening to the teacher’s lectures, but also make people feel comfortable and happy, my ideal school classroom will have this kind of facilities. My ideal heritage woods students no longer need to carry heavy school bags, just put the textbooks into the drawer, whenever you want to take out, as long as you look at the drawer of a miniature pupil scanner, when the pupil and the memory pupil is the same, the drawer will be from the exit of the fast spit out the books you want, the drawer can also automatically repair the books, so that it will always be brand-new, neat and clean. This will serve to learn knowledge and self-discipline, and lighten the load.

Overall, In my opinion, the facilities and building appearance of heritage woods can be more progressive, and in the above courses to add a lot of expansion and practical activities, so that we can explore and study more knowledge. This will enable us to explore and study more, and to realize a better learning atmosphere and environment. I believe that heritage woods can get better and better, and through a lot of hard work and enhancement, so as to achieve my ideal standard level and ideal school of heritage woods.

The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation is a solemn day of remembrance, an opportunity for all Canadians to recognize and reflect on the suffering and continuing impact of the Aboriginal residential school system, and to express our deep respect and regret for those Aboriginal people who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for the right to be free and for those children who received racial discrimination and were left in the shadow of the residential schools. On this day, we wear orange to express our condolences to all the victims, and understand the origin of this day, to call on more people to pay attention to this holiday, and to contribute to the protection and preservation of the surviving Aboriginal people, so that they can live a happy life, and have a symbol of freedom.

Between 1831 and 1996, there were 140 federally administered Aboriginal residential schools in Canada. The last Aboriginal residential school closed in 1998.

Every Child Matters: Phyllis Webstad’s Story Behind Orange Shirt Day (rbcroyalbank.com)

Orange Day began in 2013 as a grassroots, Aboriginal-led movement to educate and sensitize Canadians about the Aboriginal residential school system and its painful, lasting impact on Aboriginal communities. Residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad established the day to commemorate loss of her new orange shirt on her first day of school. It now symbolizes the deprivation of freedom and self-esteem experienced by generations of Aboriginal children. Webstad spent the last 40 years rediscovering her identity and fighting back against racism and bully, with her tagline (every child matters) and using the color orange to spread awareness. This is where the main slogan of Orange Day, ‘every child matters’comes from.

Canada has created the 94 calls to action. Currently Canada has only completed 13 of the 94 calls to action. It is  considering the 94 calls to action were made on June 2015.

The beyond 94 was result of a years worth of interviews with survivors and all level of the government。Well, according to the graph dot table of the circles to explore each call to action, we clearly know that the reconciliation advocacy effect was very good, According to the statistics, we can clearly see that the red dot on in progress-projects underway was occupy more, that shows there are slowly many people makes effort on reconciliation. That was the part we can continue.

There are efforts of the program team to interview statistics and understand the past experiences of the survivors in order to feel the pain of the past deprivation of people’s freedom and care for children who survived. It shows how we are trying to understand the past and present situation and life of the survivors to help them accordingly. We can see this program is more understanding the reconciliation and less about language and culture. In my opinion, understanding language and culture of survivors is also a  important part of program, I think this is something that ‘beyond’ needs to pay more attention, because if we don’t understand language of people and their history culture, there is no way that we provide most reasonable policies to help them.

In total, There were 63 out of the 94 calls have been proposed or underway, 13 are completed,18 have not started. well part of product that they were already done was less, and not done very much, most of it was in process, but there were also many parts that the beyond and government needs to change, and let the products that was done occupy more. in the future, i hope every Aboriginal get more appropriate help.

June 2021, Canadian government passed the bill C-5 that September 30 of every year  be Truth and reconciliation day. It is day that shows our respect and its a good chance engage people about B.C colonial history and how continues to impact communities. there will going to be more British Columbians that able to take part in attend local events, and listening to the created content, talking to family and wearing the orange t-shirt to be reverence, to be more engageable And memory that many people were dead in this day.

well, Phyllis Webstad, representative of Orange Day Association, said, “With federal government passing legislation to designate September 30th, Orange Day, as National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, it is now the province of BC that has proclaimed the legislation. Today’s (Tuesday’s) proclamation will help ensure that what happened to us will not happen again and will not be forgotten.”

I’ve learned that the orange shirts symbolize how boarding school system strips students of their Indigenous identity and racial culture. On this day, people will revisit and reflect on the history of cultural genocide and raise awareness of the destruction of Aboriginal culture in Canada. The orange and white survivor flag was designed by the National Center for Truth and Reconciliation and survivors from across Canada, and also serves as an expression of mourning.I have come to realize that moving towards reconciliation means building mutual understanding and improving relationships in the process of healing.

In the time 2022, province consulted with indigenous partners across B.C. include the residential school survivors and was about how best observe September 30. These groups were communicated creation of new statutory holiday is way for we to participate in events on this day. Government expanded engage by seeking from B.C employers and employees. government establish September 30 was statutory holiday, so that employees have time commemorate on meaning of this day.

I understand that this article uses a list of ideas and clearly states the need for us to know the information with good advocacy, thus stating that the government and everyone will strive to give and help those who survive the best and provide adequate resources and care for their lives, and to always monitor the actions with statistics to strive for the best programs for everyone. Community and child welfare is also an essential part of this. The government and everyone else will be working to bring more volunteers and staff, and for better results, several action groups have been organized. There are social workers who ensure that child welfare investigations are carried out, and people are educated and trained to understand Aboriginal communities and families.
