Reflection:

Core Competency: Creative Thinking

1. Novelty and Value

• In the re-enactment of the play, I displayed that I can get new ideas and build on other people’s ideas, to create new things and further enhance my performance by respecting my group members opinions and always being there to help my group members, from memorizing lines to taking on equal pieces of the workload. I generated new ideas as I pursue my interests by making props for the play and helping my group members get ready by doing their makeup and helping organize costumes. In this assignment, I felt that it came to me naturally because drama and arts is my passion. When I first heard about this play I wasn’t too thrilled but as we got started I discovered that I am very passionate about these types of projects.

2. Generating ideas

• I get ideas when I am brainstorming with my group, many of my original ideas were built off of by other group members and from there we incorporated everyone’s opinions and feelings. I build on others’ ideas and add new ideas of my own, or combine other people’s ideas in when we were editing our scripts and brainstorming props and costumes. Throughout our project, problems arose, but together we took them down and move past them by discussing and evaluating the issue. For example, we had to make sure everyone had an equal amount of lines and 1 person did not, so we went back edited the script and help them learn their lines. Often, I found myself stressing about failing the play, so to cope with my feelings I would walk away from the script and did something I enjoy to calm myself down and then I returned and was able to focus with losing it again, (ahah)

3. Developing ideas

•  throughout the planning of the play, I made my ideas work and I change what I am doing to see fit in the play.  During this assignment, I build many skills I needed to make my ideas work, and succeed, with trial and error. I did this by, revisiting my parts as well as other’s parts to make sure we fit the time frame for each play. In the future, I will use my experiences with the  various skills I learned with trial and error attempts to direct my future work.
