Digital Literacy 10

Digital literacy footprint

What is a digital footprint

A digital footprint to me is the print you leave on the internet from your actions. It is important to have a clean footprint in regards to your future. A employers use your digital print as a secondary
reference as in to hire or not.

My digital footprint

I searched up my name on google and what came up was a photo of my sister and I. This was a photo my mom took and used for her magazine issue on immigrants, as my family were immigrants themselves. So basically the only photo of me on the internet was used to advertise my moms old magazine. I suspect that if people would see that photo once you click on it there is a blurb that explains the magazine so you can get why it is there. I personally don’t think that photo ruins my digital footprint in such ways.

Strategies to keeping safe

o Have a long complicated password with various
letters and numbers (ex; h!h0wAr3y0u)
o Create you’re accounts on social media
private
o Report any negativity that may be occurring on the internet with yourself or others

What information have you learned to pass on?

I have learned that everything that you post, send stays on the internet forever, maybe even stuff you think you deleted. Always think while on the internet could this be possibly hurtful or mean, would these be a danger for my future reputation in business, and how is this beneficial to myself. Always think before you post and try to surround your activity on the internet in a positive way.

For the future

As I said before a negative digital foot print can impact your future job offers. These days a lot of employers figure out if a person is reliable by searching them up on the internet. If the employer searches your name and finds things that you may have regretted in the past, that may risk the chances on getting a job. The same applies for a college or university. Applying for a school they check your records and if they find a not so clean footprint it could also risk the chances of getting in.

Infographic Assignment

 Reflection

I feel doing this project really touched upon the core competencies. Given the information and videos, it required critical thinking to really analyze and question so I could interpret and the understand the information correctly. The infographic touched upon communication in the sense of presenting the information I obtained in a creative, visual way, in hence the infographic. I found that in this assignment I learned a lot about tips and tricks for searching for websites that are really useful especially in high school. Not only that but took in things to remember when thinking about if a site is reliable or not. As this assignment was on our one week break I also found that it took some personal responsibility in taking the time to really work on it with the best of my abilities for the best outcome.

  1. Good job on completing your Digital Footprint assignment. Here is your evaluation:
Message shows a good understanding of your digital footprint. Media works well with your message but the two could complement each other better. Good information present; answers are typical and accurate. Information could be a bit more detailed and elicit a response from the audience. The final product would be well received by an audience but at present would not necessarily elicit a response or discussion on the topic. 4/5

  2. Infographic Feedback
You have done a great job constructing your infographic. Images and text are present and are used in such a way that it enhances the information that is presented. You have detailed information on all three of the topics (google searches, reliability of information, and your personal learning network) and have demonstrated an excellent understanding of all three. Well Done. 5/5
